BYD Philippines is bringing in its Dolphin EV by early 2022. The zero emissions all-electric hatchback will come in with a reasonable starting price of just P 1.598 million, beating its rivals from China, Korea, and Japan.
The base and mid-grade variants use a 70 kW (95 horsepower), 180 Nm permanent synchronous motor mated to a 30.7 or 44.9-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The technology, which BYD officially calls, Blade gives it a maximum cruising range of 301 kilometers (405 kilometers for the mid-grade). For those who want more power, there’s another version that gives 130 kW (177 horsepower) and 290 Nm (maximum cruising range is 401 kilometers).
The Dolphin (or EA1) sits on BYD’s new e-Platform 3.0 which fully integrates the Blade batteries. This allows a 0 to 50 km/h time in 3.9 seconds (3 seconds in the top-trim version), rapid charging capabilities (30 to 80 percent state of charge in 30 minutes), and a torsional rigidity double that of other combustion-engine offerings. Couple this with its long wheelbase (2,700 mm) on a compact frame (4,070 mm to 4,150 mm in length) makes for a fun-to-drive urban runabout.
Features found in the BYD Dolphin include LED head- and taillights, heated outside rear view mirrors, a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 5-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, and an NFC-based mobile key.

Good pricing. Better if it was a crossover like the MG ZS EV. Sadly, no news on the MG ZS EV for the Philippine market. Btw, No BYD under carguide's 'Latest Car Prices' section?

If they don't give us any updates or tell us it's on an indent order basis (which they are), we don't place them in the Latest Car Prices section.

Deletei really want to buy an EV, i honestly do... however i have experienced reliability issues with Ford (it was a disaster), so now i only opt for Japanese cars (preferably Honda, never had an issue with my City currently running its 7th year now)... so inasmuch as it's tempting to buy a non japanese EV, i think i'd rather wait for honda (or toyota) to release one. Just my opinion based on my personal experience.
