This Is Your First Official Look At The PH-Spec 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

After confirming its arrival in February, Toyota Motor Philippines releases the first official photos of the 2022 RAV4 Hybrid.

As seen in its European refresh, the 2022 RAV4 Hybrid gains new projector-type LED headlights and LED front fog lights. It also gets new 10-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels shod with Bridgestone Alenza H/L 33 tires as well as a black-colored roof with cutouts which could indicate the presence of a moonroof.

Toyota Motor Philippines hasn’t revealed how the 2022 RAV4 Hybrid looks like inside, but as far as the global model’s update goes, it gets LED interior lighting as well as a power adjustment for the front passenger seat, illuminated window control switches, and new USB-C charging ports. It could possibly get a camera-based rear view mirror.

Looking closely at the photos provided by the carmaker, the 2022 RAV4 Hybrid also looks to have front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera (aka Panoramic View Monitor), and Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) installed. With that, Toyota’s compact SUV is set to become a safety leader with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert, and automatic high beam all coming as standard equipment.

When it comes to powertrains, it’s yet another closely guarded secret for Toyota Motor Philippines for now. It’s worth noting that globally, the RAV4 Hybrid is offered in both 4x2 and 4x4 versions. While both powertrains use the same 2.5-liter Dynamic Force engine as base, the 4x2 generates 218 horsepower, while the 4x4 does 222 horsepower due to the 4x4 getting an additional electric motor in its rear axle. Given its P 2.157 million price tag, however, the most likely candidate would be the 4x2 powertrain.

Do you think the RAV4 Hybrid will stand a chance in the competitive compact SUV segment?

  1. The camry and the rav-4 are on top of toyota's least saleable vehicles here in the philippines. Unlike in the USA, they are the bestsellers.

    1. Most likely will be an E-Four model. Why release a picture showing RAV4 in the desert if it will only be 2WD

  3. Filipino customers tend to buy the Fortuner rather than the RAV4 if they are of the same price point.

  4. The already overpriced RAV4 non hybrid is already a flop here.
How much more with this one.

  5. Hope TMP will make the price of the RAV4 more competitive. Same with HCP making the CR-V more competitive pricewise.

  6. It's unfortunate that the original mission of the RAV4 as accessible compact crossover has turned into a hybrid and lifestyle showcase for Toyota and vacated the price points at which actual buyers of this format would be interested. This is evidenced by the 1.5 - 2M range devoid of Toyotas but other manufacturers are present. Since Toyota leads hybrid technology and sells boatloads of HEVs, I really hope they'll also lead in making these cars more affordable and less niche.
