Geely Commits To Human Rights, Environmental Protection, and Anti-Corrupt Practices


Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding), the parent company of Geely Auto has joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) as a participant.

As a signatory and participant in the UNGC initiative, Geely has committed itself to upholding the ten principles of the Compact covering human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption as well as contributing to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals in its strategies and operations.

The 17 Sustainable Goals are:
  1. No Poverty
  2. Zero Hunger
  3. Good Health and Well-Being
  4. Quality Education
  5. Gender Equality
  6. Clean Water and Sanitation
  7. Affordable and Clean Energy
  8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
  9. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
  10. Reduced Inequalities
  11. Sustainable Cities and Communities
  12. Responsible Consumption and Production
  13. Climate Action
  14. Life Below Water
  15. Life on Land
  16. Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
  17. Partnerships for the Goal
The UNGC was established in 2000, affiliated with the United Nations Secretariat and is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, uniting businesses in over 160 countries to support Ten Principles in areas of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption. It has over 12,000 corporate members, and 3,000 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries.

As a responsible global corporate citizen, Geely not only cares about its own sustainable development, but also cares about contributing to the global sustainable development by implementing critical Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework across its strategies and operations. They are also committed to being a leading example of sound ESG practice within the automotive industry and has established a board level ESG committee to coordinate the promotion of ESG and sustainable development.

Guided by the Ten Principles and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Geely will systematically take several actions including integrating ESG in its strategic planning, promoting sound ESG practices throughout its operations, actively monitor implementation of ESG practices, and support green financing. Through the UNGC platform, Geely will participate in industry exchanges, cooperate with global partners, and promote global long-term sustainable development.

  3. So, does this mean Zhejiang Geely Auto now stopped using Uighur forced labor to build their cars?
