Spied! 2022 Suzuki Celerio Lands In Batangas Port

Waiting for the all-new Suzuki Celerio? You probably won’t have to wait that long. Sent straight into our inbox, someone snapped Suzuki’s entry-level hatchback landing at the Batangas Port.

Similar to what we’ve already seen in India, the Celerio dons a more organic design. Suzuki calls it, “3D organic” and you can see it in the sweeping front headlights and the new signature grille. The Philippine variant also appears to sport front fog lamps and black 15-inch alloy wheels which point to it being well-equipped.

No interior photos were snapped, but the global model also features the same 3D organic sculpted design with a twin-slot AC center vents and barrel-type side air vents.

Comfort and convenience features found in the global 2022 Celerio include a segment-first push-start system, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, and 60/40 split-folding rear seats. These features, hopefully make it into the Philippine model.

Riding on the HEARTECT platform, the all-new Celerio is bigger with enlarged shoulder and leg room. Luggage space has also been improved says Suzuki. It also uses more high-tensile steel in its construction enabling it to comply with all global crash safety regulations.

It must be noted that for the Indian market, the Celerio features the brand’s K10C engine. The 998-cc (1-liter) 3-cylinder engine has the Dual Jet technology and coupled with dual variable valve timing and a segment-first idle start-stop, it offers up to 26.68 km/L.

This next-generation K-series engine also features cooled EGR, an integrated exhaust manifold, and an auto tensioner system. All in all, power is rated at 66 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 89 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. A 5-speed manual is standard, but Suzuki’s clutchless manual, the AGS or Auto Gear Shift, is also available.

It’s currently unknown whether Suzuki Philippines will offer the same powerplant, or whether it will carry on with the same K10B in the current Celerio. If they do plan to carryover the engine, it’s likely that they will carryover the same 5-speed manual and CVT options as well.

With the Suzuki Celerio already spotted at the Batangas Port, it’s only going to be a matter of time before it reaches showrooms nationwide. The current Celerio is priced at P 628,000 for the CVT variant. Expect the price to remain in the same bracket for the all-new model.

Are you excited for the 2022 Celerio?
