It's Sort-Of Instagram Official: The Peugeot 2008 Is Coming To The Philippines

Update: Peugeot Philippines has gone live with their teasers of the Peugeot 2008 on all their social media accounts. The original story appears below (3/24).

Peugeot Philippines may have inadvertently confirmed the arrival of the Peugeot 2008 compact crossover through a social media post which has now gone missing.

Appearing as an Instagram Stories ad (see below), it clearly shows the Peugeot 2008’s trademark headlight, claw LED lighting signature, and the Fusion Orange image color. It also carries the tagline, “Drive Towards the Future.” Clicking the link (as of yesterday), brings the user to the brand’s model inquiry page, but the dropdown doesn’t contain the Peugeot 2008 (yet).

Given its proximity to the re-launch of the Peugeot Traveller Premium, Peugeot Philippines’ social media team may have mistakenly posted a photo of the Peugeot 2008 instead of the Traveller Premium. Regardless, it’s still possible to see the compact crossover in the next few months. It must be remembered that units destined for the Philippine market have already rolled off the assembly line in Malaysia.

It is likely that Peugeot Philippines will use the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) to give the Filipino car buying public a glimpse of their entrant versus the Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross, and Mazda CX-30.

In other ASEAN markets where Peugeot already launched the Peugeot 2008, it comes with a 1.2-liter PureTech turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. This is mated to a 6-speed automatic.

If it stays close to the specifications seen in other markets, it will get LED head- and taillights, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear parking sensors, keyless entry with push-start, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leatherette seat trim, and a single-zone climate control.

It should also get the same wide array of advanced driver aids seen in the rest of the Peugeot line-up including Automatic Emergency Braking, which also detects both pedestrians and cyclists, day or night, High Beam Assist (HBA), Active Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Active Blind Spot Monitoring, and Front and Rear Parking Sensors with Rear Camera.

The Peugeot 2008 starts at around P 1.578 million in Malaysia, which could translates to a price tag of around P 1.6 to P 1.7 million when it lands in the Philippines.

  1. That teaser was also posted on Facebook with a link going to register your info page.

Its obviously the 2008. I hope It's going to be cheaper than the CX-30.

  2. Gorgeous. But that potential pricing though for a small crossover. Definitely caters more on a niche market just like the cx30.
