Just five months after its global unveil, Lexus Philippines has started to release, albeit quietly, units of its flagship SUV, the all-new Lexus LX.
Like the Land Cruiser 300 on which it’s based on, the Lexus LX rides on the TNGA GA-F platform. This robust foundation is 20 percent more rigid than the outgoing Lexus LX, while also helping it shed some 200 kilograms. It also features added suspension travel (15 mm more at the front, and 20 mm more at the back) helping it achieve exceptional on- and off-road performance.
Carrying the LX 600 designation, the 2022 LX features a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine producing 408 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. This is then mated to a 10-speed automatic.
The Lexus LX also features Active Height Control (AHC) along with Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS). This automatically adjusts the ride height depending on the selected drive mode or transfer case selection. It also adjusts the vehicle height depending on posture such as pitch and roll. An additional benefit is that the ride height automatically lowers during egress/ingress. The Lexus LX also gains electric power steering (EPS) along with an Electronically Controlled Brake (ECB) system for a more linear pedal feel. For the Philippine market, it receives 22-inch wheels as standard.
Inside, the Lexus LX features the brand’s first dual display setup. This pairs a 12.3-inch upper screen with a 7-inch lower screen. The upper screen shows navigation, audio control, and also serves as the monitor for the parking camera, while the lower screen shows the climate control and vehicle status.
Two seating configurations are available for the local market. The LX 600 Premier has three rows of seating (7-seater), while the F Sport is a two-row 5-seater. Features such as a sunroof and a 25-speaker Mark Levinson sound system are standard, though the LX 600 Premier adds a rear entertainment system.
The F Sport variant—the first for the Lexus LX—is further differentiated by its mesh grille set within a black chrome grille as well as high-gloss black exterior accents. It also offers uniquely tuned dampers, a Torsen LSD, and tweaks to the steering and AVS.
The 2022 Lexus LX also comes with Lexus Safety System+ 2.5. This combines Pre-Collision Braking with Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking with Emergency Steering Assist, all-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and intelligent high beams.
Like its Toyota twin, the Lexus LX is facing short supplies and long wait times. But for those who’re interested to get one, the LX 600 Premier is available in four colors: Manganese Luster, Graphite Black Glass Flake, Sonic Titanium, and Sonic Quartz, while the LX 600 F Sport adds White Nova to its palette. For the interior color scheme, the LX 600 Premier comes in Black, White and Dark Sepia, Crimson, and Hazel. Meanwhile, the LX 600 F Sport comes in F Sport Flare Red and F Sport Black.
As for pricing, the LX 600 Premier retails for P 9.958 million, while the LX 600 F Sport goes for P 10.228 million.
