The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), the exclusive distributor of MG vehicles in the country has revealed the full specs and details of its latest offering: the 2022 MG HS. The latest global MG model to join the MG Philippines line-up, it offers a modern, feature-laden, safe, and value-rich experience perfect for today’s discerning car buyer.
“Our mission at MG Philippines is, and has always been, to offer superior quality products; and to serve the evolving mobility needs of the Philippine motoring public. The new MG HS is the embodiment of the high standards in design, quality, technology, safety, and value that we at MG Philippines perpetually aim to uphold as a brand,” says Atty. Alberto B. Arcilla, President and CEO of MG Philippines. “The launch of the MG HS this first quarter of 2022 is likewise significant because this model headlines the arrival of other modern, global, MG vehicles that we intend to launch and reveal later on throughout the year. We at MG Philippines are primed for a very eventful 2022 and begin so with the HS—the vehicles that invites all to aim higher and make the elevated choice when considering a new car purchase.”
The MG HS compact SUV is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter direct-injected 4-cylinder engine producing 169 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic. It’s equipped with modern driver aids such as a blind spot detection system, tire pressure monitoring system, adjustable steering modes, push start-stop functionality, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a “Sport Mode” that allows for crisper steering and throttle response, just to name a few.
Outside, the 2022 MG HS features the signature Stardust Grille upfront flanked by powerful LED headlights with a “9-crystal lighting” design, sequential turn signal lights, and diamond-cut 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the MG Sport Bucket seats feature 6-way power adjustment, while the dashboard is highlighted by a 12.3-inch Virtual Driver Information Center and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also features a panoramic “Stargazer” sunroof. It also comes equipped with adjustable ambient lighting and even a built-in air purifier.
Until April 31, 2022, the MG HS will be available with introductory cash price of P 1,158,888 for the MG HS Alpha variant and P 1,208,888 for the MG HS Trophy variant. After that time, the pricing will go up to P 1,258,888 for the MG HS Alpha and P 1,308,888 for the MG HS Trophy. Like other MG vehicles, the MG HS comes standard with a 5-year or 100,000km warranty (whichever comes first), 24/7 roadside support, and free one-year preventive maintenance service.
The MG HS is now available at all 39 MG Philippines dealerships nationwide.

1,962kg curb weight for a non hybrid compact crossover? That's 300-400kgs heavier than a usual compact crossover. If the Territory drove awful, this should be a lot worse lmao. I hope all that weight went to noise deadening, otherwise it's just a useless fat pig of a car.
ReplyDeletePerhaps they also used much less high strength steel for its chassis. Hence less safe car and crappy driving dynamics. Let us wait for Uly's review . If you really want an affordable (read: Chinese) compact crossover I would personally go for GAC GS4. Also cheaper.
DeleteAgree w the GAC GS4
Deletelooks like the 4th gen kia sportage
ReplyDeleteSpectacular on paper, cant wait for the review. does the raize compete with zs? imagine if toyota offers a Raize with full leather seats, panoramic roof (since its the trend on these chinese cars), slightly better interior materials and a branded audio system (maybe) at 1.1m, Toyota badge plus a list of features offered by the chinese cars. altho it maybe too expensive for the people trying to buy a raize in the first place
ReplyDeleteIf Toyota offers the Raize GR Sport with Toyota Safety Sense here, I'll be the first one to order. I think the size of the Raize is perfect for a daily driver, the lack of cruise control is the only thing keeping me away from it.
Delete"I think the size of the Raize is perfect for a daily driver" - This! its already well equipped for its price but there are just some things we miss when we're spoiled to much expensive cars.
DeleteThe 2022 Changan CS35 Plus is much better equipped and can be had at a much cheaper price to boot. Besides its size, the only real advantage the MG HS has over the Changan is Apple Carplay/Android Auto integration out of the box.
ReplyDeleteAnd the CS35 Plus is more or less 500kg lighter with more torque so I'm sure that fuel economy and handling is much better as well.
DeleteAgree w Changan CS35.
DeleteOverseas it has vry vry bad reputation for unreliability n poor quality
ReplyDeleteIs this smaller or bigger than the ZS? What is its direct competitor?
ReplyDeleteBigger. This one's a compact SUV while the ZS is classified as a sub-compact SUV. Direct competitor price-wise would be the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro and the Ford Territory. Size-wise, you can include the CR-V, CX-5 as well.
DeleteSir ully which do you think is more reliable the 7speed tst of hs or the 6speed aisin transmision of zs thropy?
ReplyDeleteI can't comment on the reliability of both transmissions since I don't own a ZS T or a HS. That said, MG did improve the DCT in the HS versus the RX5...more on that when the embargo lifts :-)
DeleteHS is a direct clear replacement for the BMW looking RX5. Soon once RX5 ran out of units in MG stock yard it disappears from the showroom for good.
ReplyDeleteThailand already launching the Facelifted MG HS next week, why the Philippines only gets the Pre-Facelift now? Why All Chinese Cars are Belated to Arrive here except for Geely? that's why Filipinos Still preferring Japanese Cars because of Advanced Launch instead of Belated Launch of these Chinese Cars except for Geely.
ReplyDeleteBoth the Geely Azkarra and the Coolray got their respective refreshes already, but they're still not here. It's a matter of what's made available for our market by their principals in China.
DeleteBTW Thanks for the Info...
