New Car Sales Up 17 Percent In February 2022


New car sales are up 17 percent month-on-month based on the joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA).

Data shows that CAMPI-TMA members moved 24,304 units in February, up from the 20,765 units sold in January. Sales in the passenger car (PC) segment reached 5,914 units, while commercial vehicle (CV) sales reached 18,390 units—an increase of 2.25 percent and 22.8 percent, respectively.

Despite the positive month-on-month figures, the report showed a 7.3 percent slide compared to February 2021’s 26,230 units. PC sales dropped 25 percent compared to last year’s 7,899 units. However, CV sales went up slightly to 18,390 units from 18,331 units a year ago.

For the January to February period, CAMPI-TMA’s total vehicle sales declined by 9.2 percent to 45,069 units. PC sales were down by 23 percent to 11,698 units as of end-February, meanwhile sales of CVs slid three percent to 33,371 units in the first two months of the year.

In February, Toyota Motor Philippines managed to secure a 50.37 percent market share or 12,243 units sold followed by Mitsubishi Motor Philippines with 14.42 percent. Nissan Philippines is in third with 7.23 percent, and Suzuki Philippines in fourth with 6.03 percent.

As of end-February, Toyota Motor Philippines accounted for 49 percent of new vehicle sales, followed by Mitsubishi Motor Philippines with 14.33 percent, Nissan Philippines with 7.85 percent, and Suzuki Philippines with 6.43 percent.

CAMPI is targeting new car sales to reach 336,000 units in 2022—a 17 percent increase in terms of volume.

  2. Can you ask our DPWH or Cityhalls to cut the asphalt diagonally when they cut out the potholled portions? Because it jarr the car too much and slows the traffic down if the cut is crosswise/horizontal and the depth is deep.

  3. Hope Honda Cars Ph will be able to bounce back this year in terms of sales. The other Japanese brands already have a head start.
