The all-new Everest rides on the same platform as its predecessor but a lengthened wheelbase (50 mm) and wider tracks (50 mm) allow Ford engineers to deliver a more controlled ride on-road and increased articulation off-road. Tweaks to the dampers and available 21-inch wheels give better driver control than before. Water wading depth has been kept at 800 mm.

Outside, the 2022 Everest’s sheet metal now reflects Ford’s new global DNA. The mid-sized SUV features C-clamp headlights and a strong horizontal upper grille. On the side, there’s a strong shoulder line running front to back swelling over the wheels.

Ford has so far confirmed three trims for the all-new Everest: Sport, Titanium+, and a new flagship grade, Platinum (photos show the Sport in blue and Titanium+ in red).

Inside, designers increased its sense of spaciousness by the full-width “coast-to-coast” instrument panel and center console. This is backed up by improved access to the third-row seats as well as more cubby holes and power outlets across all rows. Like the current model, a power folding third-row is still available, and when folded down with the second-row creates a completely flat loading bay. A small lip called the “apple catcher” valley helps prevent small items from falling out of the back when the tailgate is lifted, while an underfloor storage further adds to the cargo space.

Ford is aiming for leadership in connectivity and technology in the all-new Everest. Depending on the trim, it comes with either an 8- or 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a high-resolution portrait infotainment screen in either 10.1- or 12-inch sizes. Powered by SYNC 4A, the portrait-oriented screen also serves as the monitor to the 360-degree camera. Other features include wireless device charging, an electronic parking brake, and a new leather-trimmed electronic shifter (e-shifter).

Headlining the 2022 Everest’s powertrain is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 making this 7-seater SUV the most powerful and capable in its class (maximum towing it set at 3.5 tons). This engine is joined by improved versions of the 2.0-liter turbodiesel in both single- and bi-turbo versions. Depending on the model, it will come with either a 6-speed automatic or 10-speed automatic.

Further improving the driving experience, the Everest has a slew of safety technologies including nine airbags, Active Park Assist, matrix LED headlights, adaptive cruise control with stop and go and lane centering functionality, evasive steer assist, reverse brake assist, enhanced pre-collision assist, and blind spot monitoring with trailer support.

The next-generation Ford Everest will be built exclusively in Thailand at the Auto Alliance Thailand (AAT) plant. It will be launched towards the end of 2022.
