It looks like Astara, Peugeot’s new distributor in the Philippines is still sticking to the very same game plan made by the French carmaker’s former distributors. After introducing the refreshed Peugeot 5008 and Peugeot 3008, the next model in their line-up is the re-introduction of the Traveller MPV.
Set for a public debut at the Manila International Auto Show in April, Peugeot is already starting taking orders for their 7-seater MPV.
The sole variant on offer this 2022 is the Traveller Premium which features a 7-seater (2+2+3) configuration complete with second row captain’s seats and a sliding table. Each row features adjustable pitches allowing for ample legroom for everyone onboard, while the second- and third-row of seats can be removed for additional cargo room.
On-board convenience and tech features include Claudia leather seats, keyless entry with push start/stop, a tri-zone climate control system, a two-panel concealable glass roof, a 7-inch color touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a heads-up display for the driver.
Outside, the Traveller Premium looks unchanged. Upfront, it has an elevated vertical grille with trapezoidal chrome edging, 17-inch alloy wheels, HID headlights with LED DRLs, and power sliding doors with hands-free access.
Powering the Traveller Premium is a 2.0-liter BlueHDI turbo diesel engine enough for 150 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. This is then mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission featuring a unique Quickshift interface which allows drivers to select gears with the turn of a knob. Cruise control with speed limiter is also standard. It also rides on the Efficient Modular Platform 2 (EMP2) platform which promises to make it lighter, nimbler, and more maneuverable compared to other MPVs of similar size.
While most of the features seem carried over from the previous Traveller Premium, the 2022 model does up the game when it comes to safety. Aside from having four SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and stability control, it now comes with front and rear parking sensors with a 180-degree parking camera (VisioPark 1) as well as blind spot assist, tire pressure monitoring, and driver attention alert.
Now comes the most interesting part. For 2022, Peugeot Philippines is actually dropping the price of the Traveller Premium to just P 3,100,000. As reference, that’s P 260,000 less than the asking price of Peugeot’s previous distributor four years ago. Three colors will be made available: Bianca White, Artense Gray, and Nera Black.
