The BMW 4 Series and the Genesis GV80 are the best engineered vehicles according to U.S. firm J.D. Power. This as 4 Series and the GV80 received the Highest-Rated Vehicle Redesign and Highest-Rated All-New Vehicle, respectively.
The award, based on consumer evaluations, is for the vehicle introduced for the 2021 Model Year that is furthest ahead of its direct competitors. It merges the results of J.D. Power’s annual Initial Quality Study (IQS) and APEAL (Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout) survey, and is intended to reward companies for listening to and understanding the voice of the customer and incorporating this feedback into vehicle design.
The well-known IQS measures new-vehicle quality by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) reported by consumers during the first 90 days of ownership. While, the APEAL Study examines new-vehicle owners’ assessments of their experiences with their new vehicle after 90 days of ownership. The study data provides insight on experiences with design, performance, safety, usability, comfort, perceived quality, and other factors.
