Lexus is set to join the premium all-electric category with the announcement of the first-ever Lexus RZ’s global debut.
Shown in bits and pieces before, including at parent company Toyota’s gigantic EV announcement, the RZ will the first piece of the puzzle for Lexus’ electrification plans. The plans would be to transform the premium Japanese brand to an all-electric brand by 2035.
Officially, little is known about the Lexus RZ, but it’s no secret that it’s based off the e-TNGA platform—a purpose-built EV platform co-developed by Toyota and Subaru. Lexus though as confirmed that the Lexus RZ will have a ‘yoke’ style steering wheel similar to newer Tesla models. Unlike the system found in the Tesla Model S, for example, the Lexus RZ can switch its steering ratios on the fly.
The Lexus RZ will make its global debut on April 20, 2022.
