GAC Motors Philippines showed a preview of what is to come with the brand’s second-generation model of its flagship SUV, the GS8.
The second generation of the GAC GS8 features a front fascia decorated with a massive Flying Dynamic 4.0 Grille Design or Dragon Scale Wing with GAC Motor badge at the center. Along with the prominent grille is the Conquering Eyes Full-LED Headlight that does an intricate dance when turned on, and has an Adaptive Driving Beam and High Beam Assist that sufficiently illuminates the road when surpassing and encountering a vehicle without glaring other drivers, and when turning. Adding sportiness and stately looks is the floating roof design, 20-inch alloy tires, and red diamond taillights.
Inside, the GS8 boasts of a 12.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14.6-inch center LED touchscreen information display that control most of the functions of the vehicle. It also has a phone mirroring system via infotainment display. To make it more classy, the gear shift knob is attached with a crystal handle, and has a split handrail box at the center.
The seats of the flagship SUV are wrapped in a quilted leather material, and are now power adjustable. The first row seats can be leaned completely backwards to the 2nd row, making it more comfortable for the passenger during long drives.
Under the GS8’s hood is a 2.0-liter Mega Wave Power engine that is mated to Aisin’s 3rd generation of 8-speed automatic transmission, and a BorgWarner all-wheel drive system. It is capable of producing 251 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1,750 to 4,000 rpm. Furthermore, the GS8 has six driving modes, namely, Eco, Comfort, Sports, Sand, Snow, and Mud, making it capable of conquering any kind of terrain.
For safety, the steering system is equipped with Adaptive Vehicle Dynamic Control (AVDC) that is capable of recognizing the expertise of the driver, the type of road condition he’s driving on; can assist the driver on slippery surfaces by controlling the engine torque; and also enables better control on curves by adjusting the engine torque, decelerating the brakes, and adjusting the all-wheel drive system
Pricing and exact specification of the Philippine market 2022 GAC GS8 will be announced closer to its official launch date.
