It looks like Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru is looking at 2022 as the year of performance vehicles.
After launching the much-awaited second-generation Subaru BRZ at the Manila International Auto Show, Motor Image is now busy prepping for their next performance vehicle launch: the all-new WRX and WRX Wagon (formerly known as Levorg).
Slated for a June launch, Subaru is bringing in two variants of the WRX sedan and one variant of the WRX Wagon. All variants will share the same powertrain configuration which is a turbocharged 2.4-liter Boxer engine putting out 275 horsepower (well, PS, if you want to be strict about it) and 350 Nm of torque. The four-door sports sedan will come in both three and two pedal configurations, with the latter benefiting from a new gearbox called Subaru Performance Transmission. Meanwhile, the WRX Wagon will only come in a two-pedal configuration with the same Subaru Performance Transmission.
Depending on the desired gearbox, the WRX sedan will come in two specifications—a “Low” and “High” configuration. Standard across the line are features such as a 11.6-inch tablet-like center information display and 18-inch alloy wheels (245/40R18). However, the “Low” trim makes do with cloth seats to the “High” trim’s leather/Ultrasuede combination seats. The “High” trim also has Subaru EyeSight, a powered driver’s seat, and sunroof.
On the other hand, the WRX Wagon comes solely in the “High” configuration which includes everything found in the “High” version of the WRX sedan with the addition of a powered front passenger seat, and a 11-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. It rides on slightly thinner rubber though—225/45R18s.
Seven colors will be made available with the WRX sedan getting the eye-catching Solar Orange Pearl as an exclusive color, while the WRX Wagon gets Crystal White Pearl as its exclusive hue.
Subaru Performance Transmission.... Is that a CVT still? Pinaganda lang yung pangalan?
ReplyDeleteIt is a special kind of CVT.
DeleteAny idea on pricing?
ReplyDeleteNone yet...my hunch would be it'll be in the same league as the BRZ or slightly higher.
DeleteHopefully, or lower hehe. That WRX Wagon looks amazing!
DeleteNice to see a wagon again :)
ReplyDeleteYes. Wagons are underrated. Too bad it doesn't have a manual option.
DeleteAny idea if there is a manual variant?
ReplyDeleteYes. There will be a low-spec manual variant.
