Toyota is busy testing its next-generation Vios on the streets of Bangkok ahead of its global debut slated for the third quarter of this year.
Spotted by Phol Wassaphol (courtesy of headlightmag), the 2023 Vios shows an exterior partly inspired by the Daihatsu DN F-sedan—a concept car which was unveiled at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in 2017. This is appropriately so because reports say the all-new Vios, codenamed D92A, will shift to the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) which is used by the Toyota Raize, Avanza, and Veloz.
That said, the prototype does seem to gain design cues such as prominent air intakes which could suggest a sportier GR Sport model.
According to the Thai website, the Vios will receive a normally-aspirated 1.2-liter 4-cylinder engine paired to a CVT. Take note though that because of Thailand’s unique Eco Car program, it’s more likely that the Philippines will not get this engine. Instead, it will most likely keep the current Vios’s 1.3- and 1.5-liter engines. A hybrid system—pairing a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder with an electric motor is expected to join the line-up a year later.
Thailand is set to be the first country to get the all-new Vios with other markets, including the Philippines surely to follow.

ReplyDeleteAnd if Innova follows next, then Toyota Philippines will soon shut down the Santa Rosa plant (becoming just an importer of cars) if they decided to not upgrade the plant for DNGA vehicles production.

DeleteDoes that hurt when I was just stating facts? (Because there's even zero announcements or any updates that there will ever be upgrade for the said plant but I might be proven wrong here. I prefer to have a wait-and-see stance here.)

DeleteI didn't wish that those workers better lose jobs—because Toyota exiting local assembly here in PH will not only make workers jobless, but will also hurt the economy —Toyota is the largest of all the remaining car manufacturers here.
The only problem is that some onion-skinned people probably got their driver's license but have poor reading comprehension, and gets triggered easily.
The look seems closer to the previous model yaris (2015)
