Spotted! 2023 Ford Ranger In The Philippines

The Philippine launch of the 2023 Ford Ranger nears as stocks start making their way to dealers. Spotted by a reader on the expressway, they clearly show “Wildtrak” and “4x4.” This is our first look at the highest non-Raptor trim for the next-generation pickup truck.

Despite problems surrounding its parts supply chain, it looks like a couple of Ranger units did make it from Thailand to the Philippines. Based on the photos three colors are available: Meteor Gray, Artic White, and Aluminum. It’ll likely be joined by Luxe Yellow which is the new signature color for the Ranger Wildtrak.

Based on available information, the 2023 Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 is positioned as the line-up’s tech leader. In that regard, it comes with features such as a unique grille design with a mesh insert, LED C-clamp headlights, and boulder gray 18-inch alloy wheels. New key features such as the box step also look visible (if you squint hard enough).

Inside, the Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 goes all tech with its 8-inch digital cluster, 12-inch LED infotainment screen with SYNC 4A, smart climate control, a wireless charging pad, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The large tablet-like screen also doubles as the monitor for the 360-degree camera. Plus, the SYNC 4A system also features OTA or Over The Air updates to keep it up-to-date throughout the vehicle’s life.

Powering the Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 is a bi-turbo 2.0-liter diesel engine with 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. It’s mated to a 10-speed automatic and comes with selectable drive modes for its 4x4 system. The Wildtrak 4x2, meanwhile, is expected to use the single-turbo 2.0-liter engine with 170 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque. It’ll use a 6-speed automatic.

Aside from its 360-degree camera, the Ranger Wildtrak will debut a whole suite of advanced driver assist systems such as adaptive cruise control with lane centering (20 km/h upward), pre-collision assist, evasive steer assist, blind spot indicators with reverse brake assist, and automatic high beams.

Naturally, Ford Philippines hasn’t revealed the pricing for the all-new Ranger Wildtrak, but it is expected to go up. In Australia, for instance, pricing is up around P 76,000 compared to the outgoing model, while in Thailand, the Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 is priced at the equivalent of P 2.005 million.

Reports indicate that the next-generation Ford Ranger will be launched sometime between July and August.

    2. haha no! 1st gen new ranger, and even 1st gen raptor. almost all of my friends went back to casa for trans replacement and turbo replacement. it is normal for 1st gen ford products to go loco, which is sad

    3. To be fair though the 10-speed automatic, 2.0 bi-turbo and 2.0 single turbo engine are used in the 1st gen Raptor and previous gen 2nd-facelift Ranger. Maybe Sync4A is the one needed to be watched carefully.

  2. @Uly, seems like PH market is getting the one with shark fin... if Ford PH will just play their cards well, they could give a "friendly price" to loyal Ford customers, while providing an "introductory price" (for a month) to other buyers...

    3. If something breaks or not working properly, Ford blames the owner. Typical.

  5. Uly, with so many more electronic systems in this new Ranger (compared to the previous iteration) makes me wonder about the long-term usage, reliability and durability of this one. Also the afterservice after 5 years or more would be worrisome. Reliance on too much electronics makes up for a case of planned obsolescence.

    2. The reality today is we may no longer have running (working) vintage cars for those upwards 90's vehicles due to the electronics they carry. Like your mobile phones or TV, it is throw away basis already after 3-5 years, Unless still working, if is expensive to recon or rebuilt even if possible.

    3. Only the shell/body seats will remain. In the future the engine, transmission, radio/touchscreen will be replaced with modern versions even to the point of converting the car/truck to electric.

  6. On my own pref i dont like the ride of hilux over the ranger.. I hope ford did rectify it compared to prev gen common issues and addressed it well after spending billions of dollars with its engineers for the research.

    1. I believe that's because Americans always want something new. New doesn't always mean better. Japanese automakers, on the other hand, always use tried and tested formulas even though it may seem older but definitely more reliable.

  7. Yup very correct and true. Most of Filipinos are on to branding specially on trending wear, appliances and vehicles... But make sense we're on the move to new technology, that's were Ford plays a vital role on it, just hope we peole will take on overall performance over branding..

  8. People may have seen fords being at a bad light, but ford lovers won't stop buying it anyway. My cousin even bought one(ranger raptor). And btw, they started from adventure(sold), then dmax traded to a hilux, added fortuner, pajero, fj cruiser and now their latest addition the raptor as their new family farm truck. You guys should stop that brand wars on who's better, i myself have seen cars from known brands brokedown and turned into a headache from its owners.

    2. Branding is everything for most customers. How each product performs is secondary.

There is a reason why you see more Ford Territories, MGs and Geelys than other Chinese-made brands/model.

Ford Territory buyers found comfort in the fact that despite it's made in china and china-only model, at least it's a Ford, a global and one of the most valuable brands.

For Geelys, they marketed well the fact that they own Volvo and share the same tech.

MG is technically a UK brand, and the products we get here are also present in other developed markets like UK and Australia.

When you hear Ford you think about, among other things, Trucks/SUVs and Mustangs. Ford Ranger will continue to sell well here (thanks also in part for the favorable tax schemes on pick ups) and globally.

  12. Not here to bash about their reliability. I just think the front grill is so ugly. The rest of the truck looks rugged and boxy. But the grill is just so bad. I cannot not look at it! If it were a person it would be Piolo Pascual's body with Caco's face.

  13. Reality check 2 of my friends bought a brand new raptor and those 2 friends of mine are embarrassed because their raptor just died on them without any reason, it would not start so they towed it. Well what a reliable car indeed, raptor turns into rapture!
