When you think of private country clubs, the first thing on your mind would be golf; second would likely be a beach. But what about for those who enjoy driving? Is there an exclusive resort that caters to them? Apparently, yes, and it’s located in Japan.
Scheduled to open in 2023, the Magarigawa Club is located in Minamiboso, Chiba Prefecture, about an hour away from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. It has the usual amenities associated with private country clubs such as a restaurant, pool, hot spring baths, spa, fitness and training rooms, and even a bar. But what makes this particular one different from the rest is a 3.5-kilometer circuit located within the 1-million square-meter (100 hectare) site area.
The circuit, designed by world-renowned firm Tilke Engineers & Architects (the same people behind F1’s Sepang, Shanghai, Bahrain, and Austin circuits) has 22 corners, an 800 meter long straight, and an elevation change of 80 meters (maximum ascent of 20 percent, maximum descent of 16 percent).
The initial ultra-exclusive Owner’s Paddock has already been sold out. The five units have all been sold, and this includes villa-style accommodations complete with a garage for up to four cars and hotel-level service. Another four will be offered at a later time.
For those who weren’t able to get an Owner’s Paddock, or find it a bit too rich, 29.9 million Japanese Yen (P 12.29 million) nets one a membership at the Magarigawa Club. Only 50 membership slots will be offered and will be closed once the maximum number is reached.
