After a prolonged silence surrounding the distributorship of McLaren Automotive in the country, the gears are finally turning. Official Philippine distributor DBPhil Motorsports, Inc., has announced plans that they’re ready to open both a state-of-the-art service center and a showroom very soon.
Marc Tagle, president of DBPhil Motorsports, Inc., has confirmed that McLaren Manila will formally open its service center by the end of 2023 located along Chino Roces Avenue in Makati City. It will also serve as the British supercar brand’s temporary showroom.
As early as now, technicians employed by McLaren Manila have all undergone proper training by McLaren, and are fully qualified to diagnose, maintain, and repair the supercars.
The businessman also revealed that plans to construct a permanent showroom for McLaren Automotive was put on hold due to the ongoing pandemic and the resulting issues surrounding the allocation of new cars.
Having said that, the supercar brand will find a home within a planned commercial development in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig which will also house the group’s corporate offices. This will happen in the next three or four years.
Despite not having any sort of retail footprint, Tagle says DBPhil Motorsports, Inc. has managed to sell a total of ten McLaren units. They will also soon be accepting gray market units for servicing with an enrollment fee.
Globally, McLaren Automotive has named Michael Leiters as their new CEO. Leiters is Ferrari’s former technology officer who oversaw development of Ferrari’s series-production hybrid cars such as the SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB.
McLaren is rolling out its own hybrid supercar, the Artura this year.
Sounds exciting! But the price might be out of reach for many...
