Pilipinas Shell Rolls Out Its First Fast Charger For Electric Vehicles

Pilipinas Shell Corporation rolls out the inaugural Shell Recharge Station in the Philippines. Located at Shell SLEX Mamplasan Northbound, it is the first of eight planned fast charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs) in 2022.

Unlike the AC chargers currently installed in other establishments, most notably those found at UniOil and SM Malls, the Shell Recharge Station uses a 180-kilowatt DC fast charger. The Star Charge Titan 180 300A can accommodate two vehicles simultaneously using its CCS2 connectors (typically used for European makes, but not Nissan, Mitsubishi, and some Chinese makes).

Shell Recharge costs P 65 per minute of charging. Thirty minutes, enough for a full charge for most EVs, will cost about P 1,950. Eventually, EV drivers will also be eligible to earn points using their Shell Go+ Cards.

The charger itself is powered by electricity generated through carbon neutral means. This includes the use of solar panels installed on the roof of the Shell Recharge station.

Thanks to its convenient location, EV drivers can enjoy the facilities of Shell SLEX Mamplasan where more than 30 locators including fast food and coffee houses are situated. EV drivers can also use the Shell Helix lounge as well.

The roll out of the Shell Recharge is part of Shell’s global thrust to lower its carbon emissions helping the drive towards a more sustainable future. Ultimately, Shell plans to become a net-zero (carbon neutral) company by 2050.

    1. It's actually better to charge your EV at home. The fast chargers are meant to "top up" in case you run out of juice heading to/from your destination.

  2. I thought EV charging is free? The ones at SM is free, right?

    1. In SM it is free...but take note that these are AC chargers...the same one you can get for your house. A full charge takes about 7 hours on them. The one installed in a DC fast charger and that one takes about 30 minutes.

  3. Spoke to Shell people and will consider installing AC outlets at their charging station, so PHEV can be included 🙏🏿

  4. With their 180 kW chargers, approximately how many kwh will it charge EVs in 10 minutes?

  5. why charge per minute and not the actual kw electricity used. this is a anti-consumer strategy. It seems like shell is discouraging you to use ev vehicle by having a high cost of charging ev
