The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Petron Corporation inaugurated a modern automotive training facility at the government agency’s Taguig complex.
The training facility, which occupies an area of approximately 400 square meters in TESDA Building 9, is the result of a Memorandum of Agreement signed between TESDA and Petron three months ago.
Under the agreement, TESDA with Petron Corporation, aims to strengthen automotive training programs that will be offered to identified clients and Petron’s own auto-mechanic technicians.
The TESDA-Petron Car Care Center (TPCCC) will be utilized to offer higher-level Automotive Training and Servicing Program which will focus on Preventive Maintenance Schedule (PMS), and later will include Automotive Servicing and allied diploma programs.
Also, TESDA is working with Petron to update the current training regulations for Automotive Servicing. This will help ensure the delivery of demand-driven technical vocational education and training (TVET) delivery and help create job security for the graduates through industry partners.
The facility has the capacity to train about 100 individuals annually and houses various tools and equipment from Petron. The training program within the facility will be in coordination with the TESDA Regional Training Center-National Capital Region (RTC-NCR).
The graduates of this program are expected to acquire the competencies that are in line with professional automotive care services from light to heavy repairs, as well as tire services such as wheel balancing and alignment.
