All-New 2023 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Arrives In The Philippines (w/ Specs)


Mercedes-Benz Philippines brings in the all-new C-Class sedan. A response to an increasingly digital and efficient world, the premium compact sedan is aiming to be the benchmark of comfort, control, and connectivity.

A nameplate that’s been in existence for almost 30 years, the all-new C-Class gets the brand’s trademark Sensual Purity design language. The all-new C-Class already looks to be in motion even when standing still thanks to its dynamic proportions. The elaborated sculptured surfaces create unique light effects—a surprise since designers have actually reduced lines to a minimum. At the back are two-piece taillights—a first for the C-Class. Available in the Avantgarde exterior package, it comes with LED high-performance headlights with static cornering lights, a polished aluminum belt trim, and 18-inch light-alloy wheels.

The letters C and S sit at the opposite sides of the alphabet, but with the newest C-Class, they’re now moving closer together. The interior features a driver-centered design with a dashboard that’s divided into an upper and lower sections. The dashboard itself is covered in supple material and it features optic fiber-based ambient lighting. At the top are flattened round vents made to look like aircraft engine nacelles, while surrounding it is an opulent expanse of scratch-resistant trim.

The driver gets a 10.25-inch free-standing full digital instrument cluster, while at the center is a 11.9-inch floating central display. Mercedes-Benz’s shift towards digitalization is obvious here with physical controls all migrating to touchscreen controls. Central to the C-Class experience is the latest version of MBUX. Both software and hardware have made great strides here. Not only is the information presented in a clearly structured way, but it makes it easier to control various functions. It also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone connectivity.



Even the door trims have evolved from a traditional vertical surface to something more horizontal. The front part takes the form of a metallic high-tech element which can be used as a grab or closing handle. It also uses the power window controls. Another highlight is the floating control cluster into which the door opener and seat adjustment controls are integrated.

Setting a new standard in efficiency, the all-new C-Class uses the four-cylinder engines from the Family of Modular Engines or FAME. In addition to turbocharging, the engines now incorporate mild-hybrid technology thanks to an integrated starter-generator or ISG. The 9G-TRONIC transmission has also been developed to adopt the ISG. As a result, response and efficiency is up, while weight of the gearbox is down by approximately 30 percent.

For the Philippine market, the all-new C-Class comes with just one powertrain and that’s a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. This should give a 0 to 100 km/h time of just 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 231 km/h.

Aside from its improved engines, the all-new C-Class also provides a high level of ride comfort without sacrificing agile handling and driving fun.



In particular, Mercedes has lessened the required steering input during dynamic maneuvers by reducing the number of turns for the steering wheel. The C-Class also responds to these steering inputs in a sportier manner. Standard AGILITY CONTROL suspension offers passive selective damping as well as a lower ride height.

And compared to the previous C-Class, the all-new model comes with the latest generation of safety and driver aids meant to reduce driver workload in day-to-day situations for a more comfortable and safe driving including blind spot detection.

In each of its generations, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has always broken new ground in terms of design and engineering. The all-new model is no different. With an increased emphasis on digitalization and efficiency, the all-new C-Class has answered the call by standing for both.

The all-new C-Class is now available for viewing at Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide. It’s priced at P 3.890,000.

    1. Displacement doesn't tell the whole story. The locally-sold GLE 300d only has a 2.0 4-cylinder diesel engine but it can do 0-60 in about 7 seconds which is fast enough for most buyers in its category

    2. You new on premium cars? They are expensive because of tax, also its the badge that sells, regardless of engine and features. Tbh tho, this c class at 4m is well specced compared to other premium cars sold here.

      For ex. Bmw 3 at 3.6 doesnt even come with carplay and aauto and bmw 5 at 4.4m has about more or less than half of the features of this c class. But its BMW, so it sells.

    3. If you think this is unreasonably expensive and would rather get a mainstream alternative at a fraction of the cost then you are not its intended market.

      Having said that, if I can responsibly buy a 3.8M luxury sedan Id choose the current IS 350f, or the 3 series.

    4. Isnt IS super old? But you do you, id rather have totl civic or 3 and call it a day (i have the money). IS is old, this c is a computer with wheels, and 3 is the incomplete package that sits in between.

    8. @Anon 10:53 - That's you being frugal hehe. Good for you. You remind me of a former Boss whose net worth and profile could've easily afforded even an S class but chose to drive around daily in a diesel VW Golf wagon.

      True - the current IS F's platform is around a decade old, just a full exterior redesign and some upgrades to its chassis. They released an IS 500 version though perhaps to keep things interesting and casts some halo over the IS line.

    10. Rg, id rather buy cheap but decent and of good value than spend money on badge and flair. This is why its hard buying a premium car here, you are paying premium but not getting the features and performance. Except of course Porsches and the supercar brands, but those are way way more expensive.

    11. @Anon9:37 - Agreed. In my case, perhaps lll start to consider badge and flair when my bank account reaches at least 300M and splurge on these "relatively underspecc'd" luxury sedans - or go straight for Porsche - which largely doesn't depreciate haha.

      For now Ill stick to our 2001 Toyota Revo with manual windows which refuses to break😊

    3. I like intelligent safety systems. But those screens, ehh, computer with wheels, and whats worse is the fact that we are about to get more screens on everything. Latest mazda infotainment is perfect imo, has decent size screen but not obstructive, and has physical knobs and buttons for climate.

  8. At 3.8M you could already buy a 2023 BMW X3 which is already a Compact SUV. Let's go 300 thousand pesos less and we have the G20 320i which is way better to drive than this 1625 kgs underpowered compact sedan

  9. If I had that much money, I still wouldn't spend on a tiny 4 cylinder. I don't care if its turbocharged or fuel efficient or what, for 4 million I should be getting a 6 cylinder at least
