In preparation for the start of face-to-face classes on August 22, 2022, the Metro Manila Development Authority or MMDA is bringing back the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the Number Coding scheme in the morning starting on Monday, August 15.
As a refresher, the MMDA lifted the number coding scheme during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they subsequently brought it back for the evening rush hour (5 PM to 8 PM) starting last December 2021.
Starting August 15, the number coding scheme will be expanded to cover 7 AM to 10 AM. There will be a window hour between 10 AM to 5 PM, before the coding goes back into effect from 5 PM to 8 PM.
From August 15 to 17, enforcers will start the dry run and will only remind motorists of the expanded number coding scheme. From August 18 onwards, the MMDA will start apprehending, and will issue traffic violation tickets on ground and through their non-contact apprehension policy.
Makati, meanwhile implements its own number coding scheme from 7 AM to 7 PM (no window hour).
The number coding will cover all major thoroughfares / main roads passing through Metro Manila such as (but not limited to):
- C1: CM Recto Avenue
- C2: President Quirino Avenue
- C3: Araneta Avenue
- C4: EDSA
- C5: C.P. Garcia Avenue
- C6: Bulacan-Rizal-Manila-Cavite Regional Expressway
- R1: Roxas Boulevard
- R2: Taft Avenue
- R3: SLEX
- R4: Shaw Boulevard
- R5: Ortigas Avenue
- R6: Magsaysay Boulevard / Aurora Boulevard
- R7: Quezon Avenue / Commonwealth Avenue
- R8: A. Bonifacio Avenue
- R9: Rizal Avenue
- R10: Del Pan / Marcos Highway / MacArthur Highway
- MIA Road
- Domestic Road
- Airport Road
- Sales Road
- A Mabini Street
- Alabang-Zapote Road
- McArthur Highway
- Marcos Highway
- East Service Road
- Manuel L. Quezon Avenue
Existing number coding ordinances of the respective local government units will prevail on secondary roads.
The UVVRP dictates that vehicles with a particular ending number on their plate or conduction sticker cannot ply the streets except for holidays:
- Monday : 1,2
- Tuesday: 3, 4
- Wednesday: 5, 6
- Thursday: 7, 8
- Friday: 9, 0

ReplyDeleteGive my route, would it be safe if I travel in between the window hours (10:01 to 16:59)? Would MMDA/LTO/HPG not flag me down for travelling on my Coding Day?
