Ford Upgrades Maverick Compact Pickup With Beefy New Off-Road Package For 2023

Ford is currently riding on the success wave of its all-new compact truck, the Maverick. Globally unveiled around a year ago, the pickup is designed for urbanites who’ve developed a taste for outdoor activities. It became such a huge success for the Blue Oval that the entire 2022 production run has been sold out and the carmaker had to stop taking in new orders. Until now.

As 2023 order books in the U.S. open up, Ford has come up with the 2023 Maverick Tremor—an off-road centric package that adds greater off-road capability and a bolder style for the city slicking pickup truck.

Equipped with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 250 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque, the Maverick Tremor comes with a beefed-up all-wheel drive system with a twin-clutch rear-drive unit and a differential lock for greater off-road capability. It can divert virtually all rear axle torque to either wheel. It also comes with five selectable drive modes too.

The Maverick Tremor also comes with Trail Control which operates like cruise control for off-road driving. Customers simply select a set speed, then the truck manages throttle and braking to allow them to focus on steering through challenging conditions like mud or dirt.

Completing the new off-road package are new springs and shock absorbers that increase the ride height by an inch. It also gets a heavy-duty transmission cooler and upgraded half-shafts.

The Maverick Tremor communicates its off-road cred with its unique grille finish, blacked-out Ford logos, headlamps, and taillamps. The two front tow hooks get orange accents. For an even bolder look, customers can select a Carbonized Gray-painted roof and mirror caps, as well as black side graphics on the hood and lower body.

Unique 17-inch aluminum wheels feature a new Tremor Orange and dark gray anodized finish, while standard all-terrain tires make for improved traction on loose surfaces like sand, gravel, and dirt. A new lower front fascia with a more aggressive approach angle and steel skid plates results in improved capability.

The bold design carries into the cabin, with black seats featuring stitched Tremor logos and signature Tremor Orange accents. The center console, register vents and door pulls are updated to include the new color scheme as well.

So far, the Maverick is limited to just the North American market. Still no word if they’ll be offering this to global markets such as the Philippines.
