After a report surfaced last month of a possible September reveal, Ford has made it official: the all-new Ford Mustang will have its global debut on September 14 (September 15 Philippine time) at the Detroit Auto Show.
Ford hasn’t made anything official about the all-new Mustang, save for the fact that it will be available with a 6-speed manual. Reports say the new car, codenamed the S650, will feature carryover powertrains, but with the 5.0-liter V8 detuned to meet tighter emissions regulations. Aside from the 6-speed manual, the 10-speed automatic is also expected to be an option.
“The Mustang is the world’s best-selling sports car because there’s one for everyone—from an EcoBoost convertible to 5-liter V8 GT fastback coupe,” said Jim Farley, president and chief executive officer, Ford Motor Company. “Now it’s time to for a new stampede of owners, fans and employees to welcome the next chapter in Mustang’s legacy—the seventh-generation, which will be our best yet.”
Celebrating the 58-year-old nameplate, Ford is inviting Mustang owners and fans to participate in “The Stampede.
At the very starting point of where Woodward Avenue, America’s first paved road begins, Mustang fans will descend on Hart Plaza for the debut of the all-new Mustang.
For Mustang fans who will not be in Detroit, The Stampede will be broadcast live on Ford’s social channels.
Ford Philippines is offering a special discount promo on the current-generation Mustang as part of their run-out offer at this weekend’s Ford Island Conquest.
