The Devil's In The Details With Lamborghini's New 666-Horsepower Urus Performante

Fresh from its record run at the Pikes Peak, where it broke the record for production SUVs (it went up the hill climb in 10 minutes 32.06 seconds), Lamborghini has finally pulled the wraps off the Urus Performante.

Raising the performance and sportiness game in super SUVs, the Urus Performante boosts the output of its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine to 666 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. While the gains in the power department are modest (it’s up by just 16 horsepower), its overall weight is actually down by 47 kilograms. This considerable weight loss gives it a 0 to 100 km/h time of just 3.3 seconds and a 100 to 0 km/h braking distance of just 32.9 meters. Top speed? A cool 306 km/h.

Designed for ultimate performance, the Urus Performante features a deeply sculpted hood made of lightweight carbon fiber. The front bumper with new air curtains also helps draw airflow over the front wheels, while the newly re-designed rear spoiler adds 38 percent more rear downforce.

The chassis itself has been widened by 16 mm, while steel springs lower the chassis by 20 mm. Wider carbon fiber wheel arches also embrace either the 22 or 23-inch forged lightweight wheels with titanium bolts and specially-developed Pirelli P Zero tires. Re-calibration of the steering (including the rear wheel steering) improves turn-in agility and responsiveness.

Inside, the Urus Performante features a new graphic for its displays as well as a hexagonally-stitched Alcantara seat. Would-be owners can also opt for leather, or any of the brand’s extensive Ad Personam customization options.

Customer deliveries of the Urus Performante start at the end of this year.
