Designed by the Flavio Manzoni-headed Ferrari Styling Centre, the SP51 is a front-engined V12 spider based on the 812 GTS platform from which it inherits its layout, chassis, and engine. At first sight, the car’s most striking characteristic is its total absence of a roof making it an authentic roadster.

Unsurprisingly, its aerodynamics required meticulous honing in order to achieve comfort in the cabin. The SP51 features a hood that’s made to frame two air vents. The headlights and wheels are unique to this one-off with the latter even sporting a carbon fiber wing on each spoke.

Meanwhile, the rear is dominated by an arched theme with the taillights inset below the spoiler. Behind the cabin are two flying buttresses with two deep carbon fiber scoops and a wing. All in all, it’s meant to resemble a Targa-type car.

The paint, Rosso Passionale, is also unique to the SP51. The three-layer paintwork is supposed to give it an elegant yet imposing character that also exudes authority. The blue and white livery, meanwhile, is inspired by the 1955 Ferrari 410 S.

As for the interior, it also uses the same Rosso Passionale as well as the white and blue stripe that runs lengthwise. This gives the SP51 a sense of seamless continuity between exterior and interior. Alcantara is the main material used here, but the lower section of the dashboard and the sides of the seats are finished in blue Kvadrat inserts. Glossy carbon fiber trim is also extensively used, while several white embroidered details provided accents.

According to Ferrari, the Ferrari SP51 was designed for a longstanding Taiwan-based client who’s a leading collector of the marque.
