Blaming the depreciation of the Philippine Peso as well as the increased cost of materials and freight (including fuel cost), Toyota Motor Philippines has just announced a round of price increases affecting its vehicles starting this month.
This round of increases affects the Raize, Avanza, Veloz, Alphard, Hiace, Coaster, and the two vehicles assembled in Santa Rosa: the Innova and Vios.
The increase in sticker price can be modest (as little as P 5,000 in the case of the Innova and Vios), but it can be as high as P 80,000 (in the case of the Alphard and Coaster).
In more troubling news, insiders say Toyota isn’t done yet. The next round of price adjustments will include other vehicles such as the Fortuner. However, it’s unclear whether it stands to get upgrades at the same time (as the Hilux did).
Plus, with the market leader now implementing a price increase, it’s safe to assume that other car companies will soon follow suit.
