After we reported the entry of Great Wall Motor (GWM) into the Philippine market last year and early this year, it’s finally official. The Chinese auto brand is coming into the country through a new distributor, Luxuriant Automotive Group, Inc. or LAGI.
Luxuriant Automotive Group, Inc. (LAGI) is the automotive business division of SQ Group, which was established in 1988. The SQ Group currently holds interests in manufacturing, real estate, import and distribution, with three decades of experience in the Philippine market. It’s an affiliate of Luxuriant Phil Marketing, Inc., which is the country’s official distributor of Sailun automotive tires, Zeneos motorcycle tires, and Advanti Racing Wheels.
Ms. Lilian Cui, General Manager of Great Wall Motors’ Philippines Project shared that the brand is experiencing bullish growth in ASEAN markets and, she is optimistic that the same will be true for the Philippine market. For his part, Mr. Ruben Tan, President of LAGI stated that in order to achieve the same success as Great Wall Motor has reaped in ASEAN markets, his team will be committed to deliver a new customer experience through new technology and innovation, and aftersales excellence.
“In the next few weeks, we will be providing further information, such as our first dealer location and initial vehicle line-up,” said Tan. The brand, however, is expected to officially launch by the first quarter of 2023.
According to Tan, the Philippine market can expect to take full advantage of Great Wall Motor’s rich product lineup, products that have earned favorable reviews from such markets as Australia, South Africa, and Thailand, to name a few.
After more than 30 years development, GWM has become one of the largest auto groups in China. With its considerable continuous investment on R&D, GWM is now capable of providing a comprehensive lineup of models. As a maker, GWM is able to satisfy the range of customer demand from combustion engine, Hybrid Electric (HEV), Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV), and even Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs).
“Working with Great Wall Motor, we will leverage its product lineup strengths, and we would like to launch SUVs, pickup trucks, and other popular categories in the Philippines. We look forward to new forms of energy for the Philippine customer. All this time, we will put the customers’ wants at the forefront of our local strategy, bringing enhanced products and services to local consumers, meeting them at their need. LAGI has set up the team for working with GWM, the models we are planning to bring into the Philippines market are all very popular in other overseas market, and GWM models will make 2023 a very exciting year for Philippine automotives,” said Tan.

ReplyDeleteFirst SUV sold by Great Wall Motors in the local market was Great Wall Hover/Haval H3 which was rebadged as Nexus Hover by Nexus Automotive of Auto Prominence (former distributor of Audi,Volkswagen,Bentley and Rolls-Royce)..The 2nd local distributor of Great Wall vehicles was Statemotor which imported lots of Haval vehicles like Haval H5,Wingle pickup and others..The 3rd other local distributor of Great Wall Haval vehicles in the country was Handyware Motors / GW Cars.
DeleteSeems like Great Wall Motors somewhat appointed another small time local distributor of Haval vehicles in the market similar to the 3rd past local distributors.,I really hope Great Wall Motors is okay,
ReplyDeleteHope they should go full blast in putting up dealership like geely, chery, mg n changan. GAC has nice cars but sales were hampered due to few dealership
ReplyDeleteIn your dreams! This new local distributor don't have hundred millions of dollars or billion dollars worth of funds..They'll only set up a few key dealerships nationwide..Too many Geely and MG dealerships nationwide and most of them are struggling in sales now due to limited car lineup and expensive prices..LAGI is gonna be very careful on handling Great Wall.
DeleteLAGI will likely sell first the Jolion and Haval H6 in the Philippines next year..P Series pickup truck and Dargo SUV are likely gonna follow later.
ReplyDeleteOh kotchi99...as if you knew everything! Nakita mo sa bolang kristal??? Manghuhula ka ba??? Stop predicting without basis/supporting data🤐🤐🤐
DeleteStop crying Keane!Very obvious that LAGI will only sell the easier to sell and cheaper Haval and Great Wall products meant for export markets like the Jolion,Haval H6,Dargo and P Series pickup trucks..Unuts of Jolion and H6 was spotted being tested in the Philippines this year so those are the ones coming first..Great Wall will be competing with Chery instead.
