The world’s first car-powered hotel is now open for bookings. Hotel Hyundai, situated in the countryside of Essex, UK features a luxury cabin, restaurant, and private cinema. It’s also completely off the grid because it’s powered exclusively by the Ioniq 5.
Hotel Hyundai features a high-end luxury cabin with everything guests can expect from a luxury boutique hotel. However, here, everything from the lights and charging points to the kettle and shower is powered by the Ioniq 5.
Meanwhile, the restaurant and bar provide a sustainable dining experience with ingredients sourced locally from the area. As well as an indoor-outdoor dining and cooking over fire, it’ll also have a coffee lounge, again powered by the Hyundai EV.
As for entertainment, guests can enjoy movies from a car-powered projector and speakers with a Vehicle to Load or V2L powered popcorn machine for a true cinematic experience.
The Ioniq 5 is able to power the hotel through its V2L feature that supplies AC power (230V/50Hz) up to a maximum of 3.6-kW (or 15 amps) power consumption. An adapter from the car provides a socket into which standard domestic appliances can be plugged into.
Hotel Hyundai is open for 14 nights from October 19 to November 5. Plans are underway to possibly roll out Hotel Hyundai to more locations in the near future.
