Modena Motorsports, Inc., the official importer and distributor of Maserati in the Philippines announces the arrival of the Maserati MC20 supercar. The first vehicle designed and built under Maserati’s new era, the MC20 combines luxury and performance with the Italian brand’s unique style.
At the heart of the Maserati Corse 2020 (the meaning behind MC20) is a brand-new twin-turbo V6 engine. The twin combustion equipped Nettuno engine makes a potent 630 horsepower and 730 Nm enabling this two-seater supercar to rocket from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.88 seconds and a top speed of 326 km/h. This is coupled to an 8-speed dual clutch driving the rear wheels. Along with the high output engine, the MC20 is designed to be lightweight. Tipping the scales at under 1,500 kilograms, it offers a best-in-class weight-to-power ratio of 2.33 kilograms per horsepower.
The eye-catching MC20 is designed to be function over form. Its shape has been honed by over two thousand man-hours in the Dallara (the chassis maker) wind tunnel. The resulting aero-optimized shape divides the car into two parts—the upper part is where stylistic considerations take the lead, while at the lower half is something more technical. The division is clearly marked by the latter’s black/carbon fiber finish.
Inside, the entire focus of the MC20 is on the driver. This results in a cabin that’s essential, functional, and rational. The materials are chosen to be dark as not to distract the driver, but central focus has been given to the driving mode selector which is inspired by a mechanical luxury watch. The steering wheel is decidedly thick and are filled only with the essential buttons and switches.
Despite its lightweight focus, it doesn’t skip on the multimedia. The instrument cluster and the infotainment system are both sized in 10.25 inches and feature an anti-reflective coating for maximum visibility. A digital rearview mirror also helps improve driver visibility considerably, especially given the MC20’s mid-engine configuration.
Each Maserati MC20 is customized and is available for bookings. Naturally, pricing is only revealed upon application. So far, Modena Motorsports has confirmed that they’ve sold three MC20s so far for the Philippine market.
Will the MC20 come with a fully-electric variant as well?
