Just last month, Mazda revealed some aesthetic tweaks to its MX-5 sportscar in order to keep it fresh. At the time, the carmaker introduced Zircon Sand (along with some spec tweaks), but now, they’re adding a new special soft top color too.
Though black is still the standard color for the soft top’s canvas roof, MX-5 owners (at least in Japan), can now spec it in brown as well.
Opting for the brown soft top automatically swaps the door mirrors to body-color from black, while the wheels are swapped from the usual black to high-luster silver. Inside, the black leather seats are replaced by Terracotta-colored Nappa ones for, according to Mazda, a “richer appearance.”
It’s currently not known if Mazda will be offering the brown soft top and Terracotta combination to markets outside Japan, but for its European debut, apart from the Zircon Sand exterior color, the 2023 MX-5 also adds wireless Apple CarPlay. It also gets a new color for the Nappa leather option: Light Stone. Meanwhile, in the U.S., the MX-5 also adds Zircon Sand to its palette but keeps the Terracotta Nappa seats.
