After showing off its new Artisan Red Premium color, Mazda has confirmed its first recipient: the first-ever 2024 Mazda CX-90.
Built on the Large Product platform, like the CX-60, the CX-90 is confirmed to receive an inline-6 engine—as indicated by the teaser photo’s fender badge.
If it uses the same family of engines as the CX-60, expect it to gain the 3.3-liter Skyactiv-G with a 48-volt mild hybrid system and the 3.3-liter Skyactiv-D equipped with a new technology called Partially Premixed Compression Ignition (DCPCI). Both engines, at least on the CX-60, are mated to a new 8-speed automatic.
Whatever the powertrain, Mazda has confirmed that the CX-90 is set for a global debut in January 2023. As the company’s flagship, the three-row SUV will be “wider, longer, and more aggressive” says Mazda. It will likely replace the CX-9.
If production stays in Japan, which most likely will, there’s a big chance that the CX-90 will arrive for the Philippine market, perhaps by the latter part of 2023?. So far, it has been confirmed for at least two markets: North America and Australia.
