BMW Philippines To Launch 4 EVs, At Least 4 New Models In 2023

SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation (SMAC), the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines is set to have a very busy 2023 with the launch of all-new models. This was announced by its president, Spencer Yu, during their annual media thanksgiving party.

Though Yu did not give much specifics (officially, he said there were too many to count), he did confirm that the German premium auto brand will be launching no less than four battery electric vehicles (BEVs) next year, including the BMW iX3 which they have announced before. Other possible candidates to join the pioneering iX include the recently launched iX1 and i7. The final EV model remains a mystery, but it’s possible that it’ll be the i4—a model which they said won’t be available locally; it could be made available on an indent basis.

The iX1—available in xDrive30 guise internationally—comes with a dual motor setup delivering 313 horsepower and 494 Nm of torque. The 64.7-kWh lithium-ion battery enables a cruising range of up to 440 kilometers, per WLTP test. Meanwhile, the i7, is BMW’s flagship EV. The M70 xDrive version makes more than 600 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque.

Yu didn’t explicitly mention it, but if BMW Philippines is bringing in the iX1 and i7, by extension, it would mean that the all-new BMW X1 and 7 Series will make their way to the Philippines sometime in 2023 as well.

He did confirm that several combustion-engine models slated for launch in 2023 include the refreshed BMW 3 Series as well as the return of the 3 Series Touring (see lead photo).

Are you excited for BMW in 2023?
