Hyundai Shows Off 2024 Kona And It Looks Glorious

Hyundai is capping off 2022 in peak form by releasing the first photos of its all-new 2024 Kona compact crossover. And yes, it’s quite the looker.

The all-new Kona nabs some of the most distinctive features of other Hyundai models. Upfront, it has the Seamless Horizon Lamp—an aesthetic feature found in the Staria, while at the back, the same design feature is found, similar to what they’ve done with the Stagazer. It also happens to blend in the Tucson’s heavily creased door design that also happens to blend the beltline with the roof.

Despite its futuristic appearance, the Kona maintains some of the design trademarks of the current model including the wheel arch cladding that incorporates its headlights and taillights.

With a wide selection of powertrain types, Hyundai has decided to offer styling variation between them. For example, the Kona EV gets pixel-like graphic detailing on the grille, bumper, and even on the 19-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the combustion and hybrid variants are more rugged with their black wheel arch cladding. The N Line, on the other hand, has optional black side mirrors and roof, a wing-type spoiler, and more aggressive bumpers capped off by twin mufflers.

Riding on a new platform, the all-new Kona is now bigger. It now stretches some 150 mm longer than the current model (now at 4,355 mm), while also gaining 25 mm more in width and 60 mm more in wheelbase.

Inside, the EV-derived universal architecture accommodates not just a sportier cabin layout, but also provides for a much bigger space. The dash itself has dual 12.3-inch digital displays with a floating horizontal crash pad to emphasize the width the interior. Its shifter has migrated from the center console to behind the steering wheel for an uncluttered look, and of course, additional space. Ambient lighting is present to further enhance the user experience.

Towards the back, the second-row seats have a “curve-less” design maximizing usability and convenience, without, according to Hyundai, sacrificing comfort.

Hyundai will be releasing more details on the all-new 2024 Kona in the coming months.

  3. I wouldn't call this exactly a looker. Interesting but not exactly pretty. Doesn't matter, we won't get it here.

    3. No point bringing back the Kona when the cheaper, bigger and more practical Creta is in the local market.

    4. Creta has piss poor performance

    5. Creta is the best selling Hyundai vehicle in Brazil and India for years.

  6. There are so many Kona's in the streets and yet Hyundai instead replaced it with a significantly weaker, subjectively uglier (yet more spacious) Creta. Creta isn't well received as compared to the Kona so I think it's time to bring the Kona back Hyundai. the 2.0 GLS is perfect.
