808 Lexus PH Units Affected By Possible Fuel Tank Leak

Lexus Philippines has announced a recall covering 808 units covering a variety of its models. The Special Service Campaign covers the fuel tank vent tube assembly on models produced between July 12, 2011 to August 31, 2018.

According to Lexus, the subject vehicles are equipped with a fuel evaporative emission control unit (fuel tank vent tube assembly) that is attached to the fuel tank by a flange. The fuel tank vent tube assembly prevents the fuel vapor that is created in the fuel tank from being released directly to the atmosphere.

However, due to the design of the flange, there’s a possibility that a stress-related crack could eventually allow fuel to leak. Depending on the amount of fuel that escapes from the crack, and if it’s in the presence of an ignition source, it could increase the increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

The following units are affected locally:
  • Lexus GS F – 4 units (Production Date: November 4, 2015 to January 22, 2016)
  • Lexus GS 350 – 48 units (Production Date: January 24, 2012 to March 2, 2018)
  • Lexus GS 450h – 6 units (Production Date: March 21, 2012 to June 6, 2017)
  • Lexus IS 350 – 638 units (Production Date: April 22, 2013 to August 1, 2018)
  • Lexus RC F – 55 units (Production Date: September 24, 2014 to October 5, 2016)
  • Lexus RC 350 – 57 units (Production Date: September 12, 2014 to June 20, 2018)
Lexus Philippines is already in touch with affected owners, and its Lexus Manila dealership as well as accredited service centers will replace the fuel tank vent tube assembly for free to vehicle owners.
