The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is the safest car tested in 2022 according to the Euro NCAP. Hyundai’s all-electric “streamliner” achieved the highest overall score, based on their results for Adult Occupancy Protection, Child Occupancy Protection, Vulnerable User Protection, and Safety Assist technologies.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 achieved exceptionally high results in Adult Occupant Protection with a score of 97 percent. For child occupants, it provided good protection for all critical body regions of both the 6- and 10-year dummies in the frontal offset and side barrier tests and scored maximum points in this part of the assessment.
Aside from a strong showing from a Korean brand, two Chinese newcomers to the European market did well. This underlines the importance of the Euro NCAP five-star rating for establishing safety, credibility, and quality in the European market and beyond.
The two Chinese vehicles that scored high are both from Great Wall Motors. Their Ora Funky Cat is the highest-rated Small Family Car of 2022, while the WEY Coffee 01 is the highest-rated Large Off-Roader SUV, beating even the Lexus RX.
