The introduction of its Smart Hybrid system and its technical cooperation with Toyota for its strong hybrid system are just the first steps for Suzuki’s electrification plans. Now, Suzuki is ready to produce its first full battery electric vehicle (BEV) and it’s been previewed by the eVX Concept in Delhi, India.
Measuring 4,300 mm in length, the eVX is around the size of the Vitara. Its 60-kWh battery also enables it to reach up to 550 kilometers on a single charge.
The eVX previews a global strategic model that’ll arrive in showrooms by 2025. When it does, Suzuki promises to marry their strong 4x4 DNA with advanced features commonly found in BEVs. Its design is meant to be instantly recognizable as a Suzuki SUV, while also bringing forward this history to the electric era.
Although Suzuki has not revealed any mechanical details surrounding the eVX nor its upcoming global EV, reports say it will be using a platform shared with Toyota with batteries developed by BYD. It could even debut a two-speed automatic which Suzuki has been working on with Canadian start-up, Inmotive.
Probably Toyota will have its own version too
