At the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon, Subaru used the annual tuning show to present the Levorg (local market WRX Wagon) tweaked by their in-house tuner, STI. Known as the Levorg STI Sport, it featured handling enhancements led by the brand’s first use of electronically-controlled dampers. Three Tokyo Auto Salons later, Subaru is bringing a sharper version of their fast grocery-getter appropriately named the Levorg STI Sport Sharp (stylistically written as Levorg STI Sport #).
With a debut set at the Tokyo Auto Salon in the next few days, Subaru will be revealing the full details then. But visually, the Levorg STI Sport # gets a full aero kit and larger alloy wheels (they look to be 19s or 20s).
The Japanese carmaker has also revealed that the Levorg STI Sport # will also use the turbocharged 2.4-liter lump making 275 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. Power will be distributed via the signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system through a sport-tuned CVT gearbox.
Looking back at Subaru’s immediate history, this isn’t the first time they’ve come up with a Sport Sharp or Sport # model.
They’ve actually used it on the previous generation WRX as an in-betweener sandwiching the WRX and WRX STI. The WRX Sport # featured handling upgrades in the form of chassis braces, a free-flowing air filter, a CVT cooler, and a high-performance exhaust. These sorts of upgrades will likely make their way to the upcoming Levorg STI Sport # too.
Subaru says the Levorg STI Sport # will go on sale as a limited run model in Japan.
