Under Astara, GAC Motor To Embark On Nationwide Dealership Expansion

At the back-to-back launch of the GAC Empow and the all-new GS8, newly-appointed distributor of GAC Motor, Astara Philippines revealed plans to quickly expand its dealer network this 2023.

“We’re thrilled to start the year on a high note with the highly-anticipated launch of the Empow and all new GS8. Both vehicles represent the best that GAC has to offer at a reasonable price range for our Filipino customers. We are determined to reinvigorate the brand and achieve outstanding performance in the market beginning this year,” said Raoul Picello, Astara Philippines managing director.

According to Picello, the brand aims to expand its dealership network from the current six to 14 by mid-2023. By the end of 2023, they plan to have a total of 18 dealerships up and running to serve both current and potential GAC Motor customers.

Currently, the brand’s operating dealerships are in Alabang, Bacoor, Tarlac, Pampanga, Pasig, and Davao. It will be joined by E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue (C5), Manila Bay, Quezon Avenue, Lipa City, Cainta, Makati, BGC, Batangas City, and Cagayan de Oro.

Astara is one of the biggest automotive distributors in the world and has carried out a successful path as a leading group in distribution and mobility services. The company has sold over three million cars as a strategic partner of the world’s leading automotive groups including GAC Motor, which Astara presently distributes in Chile and Peru.

“Our first year in the Philippines was remarkable with Peugeot as our first brand. Now, with GAC Motor added to our portfolio, we are excited to bring more value to our Filipino customers. With Astara’s global strength and track record in car distribution and mobility services, we hope to achieve great success for GAC Motor as we have done in Latin America,” said Jorge Belzunce, Astara managing director for Southern Europe and the Philippines.

Aside from the Empow and all-new GS8, the GAC Motor line-up will continue to offer the GS3 compact crossover, GS4 compact SUV, and the GN6 MPV.

  1. Hopefully the new distributor does not introduce drastic price increases. Old GS8 was only priced between 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2M for the low, mid & high variant. The sole variant now is a mid spec variant but the price is 2.4M. That's a 20% price increase at introductory prices.

Greedy pricing will result to lower sales.

    1. The introductory prices are P 100K lower for the GS8 and P90K for the Empow. So after March 31, there might be some adjustment.
