Remember That Volkswagen Model Being Teased? It's Just New Colors For The T-Cross

It’s our fault, really. We got so excited at the prospect at an all-new Volkswagen model hitting the Philippine market that we (probably along with you) got deflated by this piece of news. Remember that “thing” that VW was teasing? It’s nothing more than just new colors for its T-Cross sub-compact SUV.

Like the punchline to a bad joke, the 2023 T-Cross comes in three new colors: Makena Turquoise, Pure White, and Moonstone Gray—the colors you see in the badly photoshopped photo you see above by yours truly, stitching together three low-res photos the company sent over (yes, clearly, they themselves aren’t too proud of it). Anyway, these three colors join up with the current palette: Syringa Violet, Tribu Yellow, and Romance Red for, as Volkswagen calls it, “identity.”

New colors aside, the 2023 T-Cross is exactly as it was before. No turbocharged engine. No special decals. No nothing. Heck, even China got a special racy version. For the Philippine market though, it’s just a fresh choice of colors for those who’re tired of the same one thing. This means, the T-Cross 180 MPI SE AT—as the variant’s known—packs the same normally aspirated 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine making 113 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque mated to the same 6-speed automatic. The same features could be found like digital gauges, leather/cloth combination seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 9.2-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, and a rear-view camera.

The sole T-Cross variant now has a suggested retail price of P 1.340-million, but given how things go over there, maybe wait six months for some hefty discounts.

  6. I thought the T-cross was silently pulled out from dealerships due to poor sales..
    I really emphatise with VW.
Their lineup just dont make the cut. Try as they may.
If the T-cross is turboed just like the comperition, it might be a different story. The Tcross is a good looking car.

    1. If am not mistaken vw has 7 dealerships, and they sold a total of 5 units of t cross in january, ang king vanished888 said it selling well🤭🤭🤭the joke is on you kuchi🤡🤡🤡🤣🤣🤣

    2. There is nothing wrong with the T-Cross with turbo at 1.5M as long as it can compete in terms of specs and performance with Honda HRV at 1.65 and 1.7 for the RS why not. The VW brand can stand on its own, the dealer's handling thr brand is a disaster....Peugeot is already rising with the new distributor hhmmmm

  7. I work as a product manager at a big-ish firm and I'm absolutely baffled at how incompetent the PMs at VW-PH are. I would've been fired, kicked out, and blacklisted if I had delivered results as disastrous as VW-PH's when they switched to China-only models. It's like they don't even who their market is.

  8. VW PH under Ayala Corp. did better sales performance when they had the German CBU units such as the Jetta, Polo, Touran (was used as a Popemobile here by Pope Francis), Tiguan and Touareg.

When they replaced their entire German line up with a China made line up, things started to go downhill with VW PH

    1. I stand corrected. But then, VW Phils. was selling more when the Jetta, Polo, Tiguan, Caddy, Touran and Touareg was their line up. When they switched to the all China imported lineup, bumagsak ang sales nila. That's a known fact which cannot be erased. I know this because I'm affiliated with Ayala Corp. through Ayala Land Inc.

    2. Loss price? Where did you get that info that AC Motors sold the Jetta etc at a loss?

    3. Hello @King Kuliglig

You said "Volkswagen Philippines haters pasok
T-Cross is selling well that's why VW Philippines is still selling it."

Then you were shown 5 units sold in January.

Why are you not commenting about this?

  10. VW should get back to selling REAL german vehicles

    1. Huh?Volkswagen did sell Volkswagen vehicles made in India and Mexico back then 😂 Those aren't real Germany made vehicles 😂
Volkswagen Multivan Kombi 6.1 is their lone made in Germany vehicle and its sold out since last December.

  11. Why would they not emulate Suzuki wherein they source units both from India and Japan and let the people decide.

    1. O ayan maingay ka na ulit. Pero bakit no comment ka sa 5 unit sold ng T-cross?

  12. Honestly, what's stopping VW from bringing in more known models that are made in China? They already started with the T-Cross and they could expand from that. There's the Golf and Sagitar (known as Jetta globally) from the FAW-VW division and then there's the Polo and Tiguan from the SAIC-VW division where I think VW PH also gets the Santana, Lamando, Lavida and T-Cross. Or, if they're really sticking with China-released vehicles, they could look into the variety of crossovers like the Tharu.

I really wish VW could step up their game or they could slowly decline even more than their current situation.

  13. I don’t think the “china made” is the issue given the success of Geely, MG etc. Except for the TCross (and maybe the Lamando), everything in the lineup is just fugly.

    1. The issue really is the management of AC motors which is the distributor here of maxus, vw, the sales nosediving kia.

  14. Volkswagen PH's experiment with old chinese models isn't paying off. Such an anemic lineup.

  15. Ewan ko ba lakas ng kapit sa taas ng mga Big Boss dyan sa VW at hindi matanggal kahit napaka bulok ng brand performance sa pinas. They need to hire new blood and replace the ageing fossils at AG.
