Ahead of the launch of its newest flagship sedan, the all-new 7 Series, SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation has also brought in the refreshed version of its most luxury SUV: the BMW X7.
For 2023, the Philippine spec BMW X7 gets a new model designation: the X7 xDrive40d Design Pure Excellence. With that, it receives an electrified version of its 3.0-liter inline-6 turbo diesel engine. The 48-volt mild hybrid system consists of a crankshaft-mounted starter generator integrated into the transmission. This brings up the combined outputs of the sole X7 variant to 352 horsepower from 5,500 rpm to 6,500 rpm (from 265 horsepower) and 720 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,250 rpm (from 620 Nm). It drops its 0 to 100 km/h time to just 5.9 seconds, while upping its efficiency to 12.98 km/L (combined city/highway).
All the chassis systems have been retuned for the 2023 BMW X7 giving it a wider spectrum between sporty handling and driving comfort. As always, an adaptive 2-axle air suspension is standard as is adaptive cruise control with automatic braking support.
The 2023 BMW X7’s front-end design focuses visually on the iconic BMW double kidney grille. The headlamps have been split with a horizontal unit now placed further down the bumper, and the top element serving as the daytime running lights and turn signal indicators. At each corner are 21-inch alloy wheels (Y-spoke Style 753) while at the back, a chrome strip now visually joins the taillights. The taillights themselves get new graphics.
Outfitted with the Design Pure Excellence package, the Philippine spec BMW X7 has exterior satin aluminum trim, adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assist, rain-sensing wipers, power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, and soft-close doors.
Inside, the 2023 X7 gains a new instrument cluster with a massive curved display that combines a 12.3-inch driver’s display and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional also comes with smartphone integration and wireless charging as standard. In order to fit the new control orientation, it necessitated the re-design of the dashboard, and now comes with slim air vents and ambient interior lighting. The center console has also been changed with a new gear selector design. Three rows of seats are standard, with the second row accommodating three passengers.
The 2023 BMW X7 xDrive 40d Design Pure Excellence is priced at P 9,890,000 and is now available for orders at all authorized BMW dealerships.
