This just in: the next-generation Ford Territory is reportedly launching at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) in April. If this is true, the all-new Territory will come just six months after its launch in Vietnam and, get this, just three years after the nameplate debuted in the Philippines in 2020.
Sources within Ford says the carmaker is already in the middle of sales training for the all-new Territory, and while information remains vague, the Philippines will likely follow China and Vietnam’s lead in terms of specifications.
Known as the Equator Sport in China, the next-generation Territory will grow in size; necessitating its re-classification from a Small SUV into a Compact SUV. The C-segment SUV measures in at 4,630 mm x 1,935 mm x 1,706 mm (L x W x H), with a wheelbase stretched to 2,726 mm.
In terms of styling, the next-generation Territory will don the carmaker’s “Progressive Energy in Strength” design. This gives the SUV a large wing-like grille (with a honeycomb mesh) that blends with a full-length LED DRL at the top. The LED headlights, like so many other SUVs, will be split from the DRLs and will be pushed to the middle of the bumper. At the back, it will continue to have “TERRITORY” spelt out in the middle of the tailgate, but now framed by 3D-style LED taillights. At each corner are 19-inch wheels with 235/50R19 tires installed.
Inside, the Territory will have a dashboard that prioritizes tech above all else. It’ll have two 12.3-inch LCD screens and a rotary-style gear selector. Other features include a flat-bottomed steering wheel, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless device charging, dual zone climate control, and a powered tailgate.
Powering the next-generation Territory is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine which Ford says gives the same performance as Ford’s own normally aspirated 2.0-liter. True enough, its peak 170 horsepower output matches the old Focus, while also managing to deliver 260 Nm of torque. The CVT from the previous-generation Territory’s gone in favor of a modern 7-speed automatic. Though Ford doesn’t explicitly mention it, it’s understood to be a 7-speed wet-type dual clutch system (as opposed to a torque converter automatic) with four selectable driving modes—Normal, Eco, Sport, and Mountain. It will also have an idle start/stop system for improved fuel economy.
In terms of safety, the Territory will get the Ford Co-Pilot 360 driver assist system that enables adaptive cruise control with stop/go support, lane departure warning, intelligent automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert and door opening collision warning. These are on top of the usual 6 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, tire pressure monitoring, and a 360-degree camera.
Our sources have yet to mention anything about next-generation Territory’s pricing, but it’s understood that it’ll see a price jump from the current model’s P 1,310,000. Though unconfirmed, another insider says sourcing will be switched from China to Vietnam (this one, we honestly doubt). Either way, given the jump in specifications and size, expect the next-generation Territory to be roughly P 150,000 to P 200,000 more than the current model, meaning it’ll be priced at around the P 1.5 million mark.
By comparison, the all-new Territory’s price in Vietnam starts at VND 830 million (P 2.050 million) and tops out at VND 965 million (P 2.383 million), while in China, where it’s sold as the Equator Sport, it’s priced from RMB 139,800 (P 1.125 million) to RMB 165,500 (P 1.332 million).

ReplyDeletei hope they have titanium X model similar to ford cambodia. Ford on a 19 inch wheel looks great along with moon roof. however ford website says 18 inch and no moon roof.
ReplyDelete3 years since ph launch should not be too surprising, if we believe wikipedia, the original jmc yusheng s330 was launched in 2016, and rebadged as ford territory in china in 2018. The design is effectively 7 yrs old
