One of the more interesting product details at the Philippine launch of the 2023 Range Rover Sport was the availability of the Plug-In (PHEV) variant. Thanks to a tax structure that favors electrified vehicles, the Range Rover Sport Dynamic SE P440e serves as the range’s entry-level variant (entry price: P 13.49 million).
And Land Rover Philippines isn’t stopping there.
Coventry Motors Corporation President Chris Ward has confirmed that Land Rover Philippines will soon be adding more electrified vehicle offerings in the near future with the local launch of the Range Rover Plug-In Hybrid.
Ward did not reveal any specification detail yet, but globally, the Range Rover Plug-In Hybrid comes in two variants: the P440e and the P510e. Both share the same 3.0-liter Ingenium inline-6 engine, but vary in their combined outputs. The P440e makes 440 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque, while the P510e makes 510 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The on-board 38.2-kWh lithium-ion battery offers an all-electric driving range of up 113 kilometers—more than daily commute around Metro Manila. This, according to Land Rover, enables owners to complete 75 of all their journeys using pure electric power.
The Range Rover PHEV, like the Range Rover Sport PHEV, can accommodate 50-kW DC rapid charging making it one of the fastest charging PHEVs in the market (20 to 80 percent charge in less than one hour).
Land Rover Philippines is already taking in orders for the Range Rover PHEV.
Ward has also confirmed that the Philippines will stand to get the all-electric Land Rover line starting with the new Range Rover. With “Job One” expected around the end of 2024, customer deliveries in the Philippines will commence in the first half of 2025. Further down the line, every Land Rover is set to be available with pure-electric propulsion by 2030, including its iconic Defender.
