The P 3.788M EV6 GT-Line Is Kia Philippines And Ayala Corporation's First Step Towards Sustainable Motoring (w/ Specs)

Previewed at the Philippine International Motor Show last September, and after that, through a series of educational campaigns leading up to a first drive last February, Kia Motor Philippines has finally launched their much-awaited all-electric SUV: the 2023 Kia EV6.

The arrival of the Kia EV6 to the Philippine market is timely for two reasons. First, with Kia’s move to become a sustainable mobility solution brand, the automaker has invested heavily in the roll out of electrified vehicle offerings, headlined by their first dedicated EV model, the EV6.

On the other hand, Kia’s exclusive Philippine distributor, Ayala Corporation has also committed itself to becoming a net zero emitter of greenhouse gases by 2050. To date, one of the largest Philippine conglomerates has rolled out a series of EV chargers, while also switching more than 30 percent of its energy consumption across the group to renewable sources. It’s under this backdrop that Kia and Ayala Corporation decided to introduce the EV6 to the market.

The Kia EV6 is the first vehicle riding on a dedicated new platform for battery electric vehicles or BEVs. The E-GMP platform results in its visually evocative design, while also offering a large, spacious cabin. A flat, under-floor mounted 77.4 kWh battery offers a maximum cruising range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge, while its single electric motor and direct drive transmission gives a maximum output of 229 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque—enough to satisfy even performance car enthusiasts.

Standard on the award-winning EV6 GT-Line, the solitary variant on offer, include features such as powered front seats with memory and ventilation, a combination black suede/white leather upholstery, and a 14-speaker Meridian Surround Sound System.

More than just luxury features, the EV6 GT-Line comes packing world-class safety features including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning Detection, Blind Spot Detection and Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping & Following Assist Technology, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Safe Exit Assist, and 360-View Monitor.

The battery system itself is enclosed and is rated at IP66—a rating commonly used for electrical enclosures with plastic hinges and waterproof gaskets. And in the unlikely event that water does enter the battery enclosure, a water sensing system will automatically shut the EV6 off if water exposure is beyond safety standards.

Priced at P 3.788 million, the Kia EV6 GT-Line will come with a portable ICCB home charger. Its standard warranty is 5 years or 160,000 kilometers, while the High Voltage battery itself has an 8-year / 160,000-kilometer warranty. The ownership package also comes with free 5 years of Preventive Maintenance Service (PMS) and 5 years of free 24/7 roadside assistance.

The Kia EV6 GT-Line comes in five colors: Moonscape, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Yacht Blue, and Aurora Black Pearl.

It will be available at all 42 Kia dealerships nationwide with the initial roll out concentrated on its dedicated Kia EV dealerships: Kia New Manila in Quezon City, Kia Alabang in Muntinlupa, Kia Sto. Tomas in Batangas, and Kia Pampanga in North Luzon.

  1. I thought they were going to reduce the price of this because of that newly passed law? Anyway, are there any studies/reports of longevity of batteries of EVs? Batteries of phones laptops etc degrade overtime

    1. I dont, I was just asking and I dont really care on the price hence the "anyway". You seem to read too much on what other people comment here. Fifty is 5x10 so it means its going to be "selling very well" right? In your terms at least.

    2. Hyundai did not adjust the price of the Ioniq 5 (they long announced the price) when the EV law took effect to give 0% tariff. I was expecting KIA to adjust their pricing to undercut Ioniq even by Php200k to 300k. Which would put pressure on Hyundai to adjust their pricing downwards in light of the competition.

I guess they're just taking the extra savings to the bank instead of passing it on to consumers. Not a volume seller though and at this price point they're thinking consumers won't mind the extra couple of hundred thousand premium.

    3. It's my understanding that Hyundai gambled on EO 12 being passed, so the prices they announced previously take this into account. For Kia, the price was supposed to be a tad higher...but thanks to zero import tariff, the price difference to the Ioniq 5 isn't that much.

  2. price is not all that surprising even in America the EV6 is more expensive than the Ioniq 5

  3. KIA Ph better install charging stations on their dealerships nationwide for the convenience of buyers and future BEV owners.

  4. EV's are not it yet for us here in the PH. Not until the prices come down. Although that small chinese EV at 600k seems adequate if you're fully comitted to transitioning to EV cars and are just puttering around the city.
