How’s this for flying under the radar? Aside from the Forester GT Edition and the new Evoltis, Subaru has also launched the updated Outback at the Manila International Auto Show.
Stare as much as you’d like, because from the outside, it looks pretty much like the same Outback launched in 2021 except for new alloy wheels. Honestly that could be a good thing because this one looks classy compared to the North American version and its enlarged schnoz.
The new bits are found inside where the 2023 Outback now gains USB Type C ports, interface upgrades to its multi-info display and 11.6-inch portrait style touchscreen, and new steering wheel buttons. And for better drivability, there’s the X-Mode Auto Restore. This means the Outback automatically switches back to ‘standby’ when the speed exceeds 40 km/h, and re-engages when the speed drops.
Under the hood, the 2023 Outback retains the services of the 2.5-liter normally aspirated Boxer engine. With that, it generates 188 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque. It gives it a 0 to 100 km/h time of 9.6 seconds and a top speed of 206 km/h.
Despite the new updates and features, the Outback retains its price tag which is P 2,480,000.
The new Outback is now available at all authorized Subaru dealerships nationwide. You can also check it out in person at the Manila International Auto Show from April 13 to 16. Check check out the full specs and feature list below.
