After launching the Tiggo 8 Pro e+ PHEV, Chery Auto Philippines, distributed by United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. is electrifying two more of its SUVs: the Tiggo 7 Pro and the Tiggo 5X Pro.
Previewed at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), both SUVs feature Chery’s 48-volt mild hybrid technology.
“We are thrilled to showcase these state-of-the-art Tiggo models that underscore Chery’s world-class technology, especially in the area of electrified mobility,” says Chery Auto Philippines/UAAGI President Erroll Dueñas.
“The models that we will unveil are anchored on our Q-Power Global Platform, which is the culmination of Chery’s 25-year power technology development, spanning all future mainstream power forms including hybrid, pure electric, and hydrogen. We use state-of-the-art 48V hybrid technology on two of our latest models bringing further reduction in fuel consumption and emissions in their daily drives,” he added.
Both the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hyrid and the Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid have a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, but with its traditional alternator replaced by a Belt Starter Generator or GSG. This enables the Chery SUVs to recover kinetic energy generated during braking. This energy is then stored in a 48-volt battery, and is used to assist and increase power on demand.
The system is intelligent and detects the need, based on the driver’s driving style, when there is a need for economy or performance. As a result, there is 14 percent reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and savings of up to 13 percent in fuel consumption. Moreover, the system also delivers additional power—10 horsepower and 40 Nm to assist the 1.5-liter engine. They both make 160 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque.
Furthermore, the Chery hybrid system comes with an idle start-stop system that turns off the engine such as coasting to a dead stop. It also helps further reduce fuel consumption, while minimizing noise pollution when the vehicle is stationary.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid and Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid will have their official Philippine debut towards the end of the month. Pricing and local market specifications will be revealed by then.
Tiggo 7 Pro circa pandemic 2021 was sold for 1 million pesos only. It is now 1.25M pesos... seems Chery is following Geely's bad example of overpricing their products.
ReplyDeleteNotable that the new 5X is now turbocharged.
