Hyundai Motor PH To Launch Ioniq 6 EV At MIAS

Hyundai Motor Philippines’ electrification plans are moving at a very fast pace. After launching the Ioniq 5 all-electric SUV early this year, the Korean automaker will be adding the Ioniq 6 to the local line-up as well.

Set for a Philippine market reveal at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), the Ioniq 6 is dubbed the electrified streamliner because of its wind-cutting shape. As a result, Hyundai reckons it’ll have a maximum cruising range of up to 610 kilometers on a single charge, while its 800-volt architecture supports ultra-fast charging times.

Utilizing the same E-GMP platform of the Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 has an overall length of 4,855 mm—akin to an executive sedan. However, its 2,950-mm wheelbase is closer to that of much larger sedans. The interior is developed to be a personalized hideaway with features such as dual 12-inch LCD screens, dual-color ambient lighting, Relaxation Comfort Seats, and more.

Like the Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 6 comes with various battery and motor configurations. Hyundai Motor Philippines hasn’t revealed the local specification, but based on global specs, its battery is sized either at 53-kWh or 77.4-kWh.

When paired with the dual-motor all-wheel drive, it makes 325 horsepower and 605 Nm, enough for a 0 to 100 km/h of 5.1 seconds. In the single motor versions, the standard range variant makes 149 horsepower, while the long-range variant does 225 horsepower. In both cases, the rear wheels provide tractive power.

Also like the Ioniq 5, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has swept the 2023 World Car of the Year Awards garnering not just the top award, but also the World Car Design of the Year and World Electric Car of the Year.

Pricing has yet to be revealed, but if Hyundai Motor Philippines follows the other markets, expect it to be even more affordable than the Ioniq 5. For comparison, the Ioniq 5 is priced starting at P 3.068 million for the standard range RWD.

Naturally, Hyundai Motor Philippines will be revealing all at the Manila International Auto Show from April 13 to 16 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
