Local units of the Lexus NX are the subject of a “Customer Satisfaction Campaign” because of its Lexus Safety System (LSS), specifically for an improvement of its Forward Recognition system.
According to Lexus Philippines, a total of 40 Lexus NX produced from November 15, 2021 to December 20, 2022 and 75 Lexus NX Hybrids produced from November 17, 2021 to December 6, 2022 are affected.
The Japanese carmaker found out that within certain situations, when an affected Lexus NX passes a line of stopped or parked vehicles, there’s a possibility of a discrepancy on the object it detects between the Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) and the LSS system. If this occurs, the camera will be forced to reboot and some LSS functions will be inoperative for around 4 seconds. During this time, the Pre-Collision System (PCS) will be inoperative and the PCS warning light will turn on. After rebooting, the functions will return to normal.
Despite the system managing to turn on without any driver intervention, Lexus Philippines has offered to reprogram the LSS’s Proactive Driving Assist system on the 115 affected units for free. However, because they’re treating this as a Customer Satisfaction Campaign rather than a service bulletin (aka recall), affected customers will only have until March 31, 2026 to complete the procedure.
The reprogramming will take around one day according to Lexus Philippines.
