Nissan Philippines announces an approximately 30 percent price reduction for the new Nissan Leaf in accordance with Executive Order No.12 issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Executive Order No. 12 temporarily reduces import duties on electric vehicles, parts, and components for five years. The new Nissan Leaf is now available at a retail price of P 1,998,000 down from its original price of P 2,798,000—a price cut of P 800,000. The new retail price is effective as of today.
This massive price cut is way lower than the expected P 230,000 price reduction floated back in January. This effectively means Nissan Philippines is passing on all the savings (and even more) to customers.
First launched in the Philippines in 2021, the Leaf is Nissan’s first mass-produced electric vehicle, pioneering the way to sustainable mobility for all. Subsequently, it was updated in 2022.
Mechanically, the new Leaf packs a single AC Synchronous electric motor good for 150 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. With a 40-kWh battery, it delivers a range of about 311 kilometers. It also continues to have the innovative e-pedal which accelerates and decelerates the Leaf all with just one pedal. When equipped with an optional AC wall-box charger, it takes about 7.5 hours to full charge the Leaf, but it can also be charged from low to 80 percent in just 40 minutes at selected Nissan dealerships.
For safety, the 2023 Nissan Leaf comes with Intelligent Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control, Intelligent Trace Control, Intelligent Around View Monitor. This is on top of other safety features such as blind spot warning, high-beam assist, and lane departure intervention.

We welcome this development from the Philippine government as it further accelerates our electrification strategy for the country in line with our Nissan Ambition 2030, which aims to empower mobility and beyond by providing long term sustainable solutions,” says Juan Miguel Hoyos, Nissan Philippines President.
As part of its Ambition 2030 long-term vision, Nissan will work to increase its electrified vehicle product mix in all its markets by the year 2030. The brand will also utilize its electrified vehicle technologies to address various issues beyond transportation and sustainable mobility. To support the latter, Nissan Philippines launched last year its Blue Switch initiative which aims to create key partnerships with various organizations to help address social concerns such as disaster response, climate change, responsible travel, and energy management with the use of EV technologies such as Vehicle-to-Anything (V2X) bi-directional charging.

ReplyDeleteBYD Seagull is priced at $10,000 -$12,000 that's around 650,000 pesos. Don't talk to me about the quality of Chinese cars. They're past that already. They're leapfrogging and taking the lead in EV technology.

ReplyDeleteExactly their plan, they knew it will take them years to catch up with the traditional carmakers that has been around for decades making ICE cars. The EV gave them the chance to not only catch up but leapfrog them and unsurprisingly they are now.

DeleteThat "technology sharing" and with the fact that Tesla is the first Western company to be established in China (they still have beyond huge presence there despite BYD beating them lately) allowed them to basically "copy" and "share" schematics and others, which they can skirt away any criticisms of IP theft.
