This Shelby-Tuned Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Comes With Fake Exhaust Notes

It had to happen, right? The first Shelby version of the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E is finally out and it brings with it some handling upgrades, tons of stickers, and get this, some fake exhaust notes.

Shelby American didn’t do anything to upgrade the Mustang Mach-E’s straight-line performance so that means having 487 horsepower, 860 Nm via a dual-motor setup. This should be enough for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h.

What the tuner did, however, was to enhance the handling with lowering springs that reduce the ride height by around one-inch, while also fitting new lighter weight wheels, and carbon fiber bits on the hood, grille, mirror caps, and door trim in a bid to shed the kilos.

Perhaps the most controversial aspect of the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT is the fitment of Borla’s Active Performance Sound System. Designed for EVs, it’s basically an external speaker system that Borla’s developed to mimic the engine and exhaust noise you’d hear from an internal combustion engine. Given that one of the reasons for going for EVs is its quiet operation, so this seems like a step in the wrong direction. Still, this could be an attractive proposition for owners who still want those “vroom vroom” noises to go with their cars.

Other changes for this Shelby include a bunch of emblems and badges all over, vinyl exterior stickers, Shelby floor mats and a numbered dash plaque. Only 100 Shelby Mustang Mach-E GTs will be produced for Europe.

Shelby American says they plan to roll out additional performance EVs in the near future, while also releasing several new models based on internal combustion engines (aka the all-new Mustang) as well.
